Meet my new ///M5, Heinz.

Post by rmiddendorf »

After searching quite a bit the Perfect for MeTM car something kind of found me. Ed Locke's original E28 ///M5. I couldn't pass it up even if it was a little over budget. Its incredible. Love it.

Right now you get story or pics, so I picked pics.

And thanks to Ed for selling me the car, my friend Chris for going with me to pick it up (He writes on BaT BTW), and the many people who have offered me advice both publicly and in private.

If you drove up 29 and didn't stop in C'ville, I'm going to drop a water balloon on you at Vintage.

Like I said, Ed's definition of "good condition" is most peoples' "excellent."

Um, not 29. US 52. Plus I have to work tomorrow and Chris had to get home to his kids as well. We barely had time to eat. Sorry.

Done. As promised it stays stock except for perhaps the radio. Still undecided. I may have it refurbished. And I'm keeping the current wheels for now but if they do get replaced I'm buying the original wheels.

Thanks, but I wouldn't say finally. Truth be told this could have gone on for years.

I also know I need engine pics. We were in a hurry but its on my list.

Working on getting my original stereo put back in. My car still has the OEM wheels, but I think yours look great on it as well. Someday I hope to have a set of those or Alpinas.

And the steering wheel will likely go back to stock if I can still get a new one. Once again in time.

Roddney,

Congratulations on your acquisition.Your next quest...Start looking for a NIB M-Tech I steering wheel.That Ghibli-4 in ///M colors doesn't fit the personality of the M5. I think it's a better fit for the E30 M3.

Lenkrad is German for steering wheel for your ebay.de searches.

Fortunately for you, this doesn't appear to be the correct fitment.

Does this mean the end of Rodney's non affliated cars for sale thread?

I'll try to keep the thread alive, but I'm not buying anything. I have to sell Bandit but love my current set of cars. It just seems silly to keep Bandit around now. Loving my new ride!

We tried to get our docs notarized at the UPS Store there but we met at his home. Had to go to a bank instead.

I lived for a short time on Independence near there back in '94. Thought it looked familiar.
