Post by S14 »

Here are a few pics of my M5 on track, thanks to Tschultz! Also, at the bottom is a youtube video.

Lets see some other M5's in action!

Oooh, another M5 to chase around HPR! Mine is out of commission for a while, but we need to talk.

Hi Andy,

I saw your M5 at the last BMWCCA school, but I was in my E30 that day. It'd be fun to play chase with both M5's! What is wrong with yours at the moment?

Yes.

I'm not sure why, but that viper driver was kind of strange, he slowed way down there only to absolutely blow by my on the back straight. Another time, mid run session, he was swerving violently on the back straight at about 80mph to "warm the tires."

I take that back, I do know why... he was your typical viper/corvette driver their first time on track

yes great , car idles nice now .
had to do a full remap on the ecu though as no way it was going to run right with the millar maf chip they supply with it.
i also modified the the intake pipe with a 4" tube so its 4" all the way into the plenium.

sounds pretty neat on full throttle.
will bog down a little if you floor it at low revs, but i dont car about that , its way better than the old worn out bosch afm unit it used to have.

managed to get another 40Nm or torque (upto 400Nm now) with the millar maf and about 320-330hp at the flywheel.
with all the other mods etc

Engine rebuild time. Thought I just had to do the head, but when we pulled it we found scratches in all cylinders. Looked like it was run without an air filter.
I'll be running a mostly stock e36 M3 this spring.

I was confused by this shot, thinking there were two E28 ///M5's.

And probably the only 4 door
I love the look of the M3 drivers as you pass them in the "family sedan"

Had a great time at yesterdays auto-x. Ended up 2nd in DS class, and only a 10th behind the class leader!

Really? mine is at the very very top of DS for the BMW classing, not SCCA. What have you done that bumps it up so much?

Unfortunately I won't. The school filled up very quickly, I didn't sign up in time. Plus, I believe that we have friends in town that weekend.

What an awesome auto-x track. Nearly everyone I've ever been to has felt cramped.

Looks great. I had my E28 M5 at PPIR down in Fountain, CO last weekend for Winslow BMWs annual track day. I will likely be at lap day or two later this summer at HPR. Glad to see I am not the only one in the area that runs an E28 M5 on the track.
