Packed and ready - Road Trip© - edited itinerary!

Post by C.R. Krieger »

A more precise itinerary is down in my third message if you're anywhere along the route. PM me a phone number; preferably one I can text to.

Yes, folks, it's time. Got a full set of 'trunk tools' (which means I have to check the damn bag, thanks to those TSAssholes  ), an extra relay (might toss in a spare ECU), a Bentley, Friends of BMW CCA, 'CCA Premium Road Service, spare Amex and VISA cards, license, registration, and insurance für der neue Hai. Still no takers on a ride, but I'll manage somehow. Will be hitting SFO around 1:00 PM Tuesday if anyone wants to head to out near San Carlos for coffee or whatever. Will be north of the Bay on Wednesday and, if bored or scared of impending weather, will head east that day. Otherwise, the trek begins in earnest Thursday.

I voted #4. This is what I took on my last road trip and didn't use anything but the radar detector and Ipod.

I would recommend this though:

Shucks. I won't arrive in the general Sacto area until late Thursday night. Staying there (probably Davis) overnight on my way to Oregon.

I'd make sure I had a couple of spare quarts of oil and a gallon or two of water to take with me, and check those fluids before leaving. Go to a quickie lube and have them check tranny and diff if it leaves any marks behind. Otherwise you should make it, as long as you don't run it out of oil or water the M30 will keep on going.

North bay Wednesday? How far north and when? That's my neighborhood.

How tall is C.R.?

So, will you be internet-capable along the way, or do we have to wait for updates?

I think there was some mention of smoke signals.

You'll be fine. Follow Mike's advice and top off the fluids, keeps some spares and you'll be good to go. If you made that other road trip in the other E24 for your buddy* this one is going to be a piece of cake.

Edited itinerary!

Post by C.R. Krieger »

Hoping to spend Tuesday afternoon - and maybe the morning of Wednesday - seeing folks in the Bay area, then off to Auburn to visit an old high school pal and Johnny Guest!

Thursday* and Friday meandering to and through the Rockies to another E28er (Ken H) near Denver.

Having just 'lost' two passes in Colorado, I'm going to head north to SD for Saturday night with Dave T & the Wiles clan before heading on home Sunday.

I should be in touch wherever I have wi-fi or Sprint.

For those not entirely conversant auf Deutsch, "der neue Hai" is 'the new shark' - an '85 635CSi. Kohler thinks I'll regret it. We'll see. It's gotta be lots better than the last road trip I had in a Sixer. ;)

* Should be south or southeast of SLC Thursday. Don't know anyone there, so no plans at this moment.

I should make you search harder, but I'm feeling charitable tonight! Happy Easter, Rodney, and everybody else too!

I just got back from an 1100 mile round-trip. I'm very glad I had an extra fuel filter.

Hey Tom,
where is Ken located? I may be able to meet up later on Friday if not too far from Denver, or Saturday. Let me know what the plan is.

The former. Sitting in Milwaukee waiting for my delayed flight. Will be in touch when I get to SFO. You still going to be around?
