searched and cant find any serious Euro vs American debate

Post by FATC »

Couldnt find any serious debates on which are cooler, euro or american e28's so i thought id just say it myself.

I THINK EURO E28's LOOK LIKE BIG 4 DOOR E30's-- WHICH SUCK.

Anyone with me here? Im just trying to piss off some stuck up euro owners as well, but i seriously think that. big e30s are lame. if you want a car that looks like an e30, get and e30, not an oversized version of it AKA Euro e28.

AMERICAN FOR LIFE. the american bumpers give the side profile of the car much more flare and style in my opinion. Its like the chin of the most interesting man in the world, from the dos equis commercial.

Only thing bad about the diving boards are the plastic covers that tend to warp if you dont garage it, and leave it in the sun. I serve sunday buffets on my bumpers, and im fucking proud as shit to be serving food to friends and family, and without those bumpers, i simply couldnt do that.

anyway, if there has been a debate, point me to it, but thats my opinion, and you definatly wont see me in a euro e28. RED WHITE AND BLUE TILL I DIE!!!!!

Hey, I generally agree with the OP. I think Euro bumpers make the car look stubby, so I've never had any real desire to put a set on. That, and American drivers are so lousy, you can expect to periodically need your 2.5 mph rams ...

Euro bumpers are how the car is supposed to look. The only thing I would want changed on a euro car is to have NA doors put on for the crash bars.

I wish I had a no sunroof option also.

Yeah; and no high beams from the big outside headlamps is how the car is supposed to work. I think that's dumb, too, so I wire them otherwise. BMW stylists are far from infallible. Does the name "Chris Bangle" ring a bell?

oooohhhhh. I wish mine was slicktop.

OP, no.
E28s and E30s are two totally different aminals.

The first thing I thought after I changed my e28 from diving boards to Euros is that the car looked more 'svelte'. Like it lost a couple hundred pounds. It just plain "cleans up" the bodywork.
I prefer the look, and that's my opinion.

Funny, when I switched from US to euros on the e30, the visual effect wasn't as pronounced.

... and just to round it out, and because no one asked...
I'm switching to the front euro bumper ONLY on my e24. I happen to have one of the old ones where the rear bumper isn't as offensive or protuberous. (I thought I was making that word up, but it looks good enough for SCRABBLE to me)
The only thing that sucks is that I waited just a few months too long to get the rubber trim for said bumper and it's "blocked" from the US system now... grrrrr. Kohler, I feel your pain.

[quote="Nanajoth"]Euro bumpers are how the car is supposed to look.

The facts are this- American owners want Euro, and the guys in Europe want the American Bumpers; so id definatly say that its just a case of valueing something more becasue you cant have it.

But i still maintain that the diving boards/buffet tables give the car about twice as much character (only with front sport spoiler tho; stock non-IS is ugly for sure), than the euro's.

its like, a moustache for the car, and confucious said, "a man without a moustache is a man without a soul."

I joined a 5 Series Owner Board in England back in December, I posted before and after pictures of the bumper conversion I did on my e28 and the response was very clear, THEY DON"T LIKE THE US BUMPERS! Nowhere have I ever read that Europeans prefer the US bumpers over the Euro bumpers.

Quotes:
Posted 01 December 2011 - 07:47 AM
Very welcome to the forum nice to see those cars. Specially having got rid if those large bumpers ugly things they are

Posted 03 December 2011 - 12:27 PM
Welcome mate. 100% improvement to the E28 with euro bumpers, those big ones look daft! And as for the CS....... Porn.

Posted 18 December 2011 - 03:20 PM
The smaller bumpers make a huge difference, love the CS, lucky man!

Posted 29 December 2011 - 07:04 AM
Welcome along. Those original bumpers are hideous!
End quotes

Do you get the message?

The lines of the E28 are so disrupted by the US bumpers.

I do not understand how putting Bangle into this discussion makes any sense at all. Did Chris Bangle design the E28? No he did not, Paul Bracq designed many of the best looking BMWs unlike Bangle.

However, your comment about the headlights is correct.

Additionally, Bangle designs are "world cars" that don't have meaningful international bodywork differences.* There are variations in reflectors, etc., but the bumpers & sheetmetal are the same.

*No, mentioning that we didn't get the E46 Compact (or whatnot) doesn't count.

oakland? when you have no idea what race i am. probably typical from a german car forum i guess. goddamn nazis.

none of you guys get an ounce of my respect; except for KRIEGER the one guy who likes american e28 bumpers. I probably have more style in my pinky finger than some of you guys who have trolled the forums, only to adopt the opinions of some old-balls-geezer who wears bmw polo shirts on the daily. lemme guess, you have bbs rs's too just becasue they look good, and you took zero time to try to be original and find wheels that someone else wont have?

seeing as you are questioning my taste and age, let me retort;

Wrong----im 25, but like my sig says, i bought my first beem when i was 17, ( and i didnt just buy into your guys lame dick sucking club either, 700 bucks) and ive had it ever since, slowly restoring it to a DD that i think is stylish regardless of what "bmw guys" think. 250,000 original miles, original bmw cosmosblau paint, and running strong; everythings original cept a sport suspension.

nothing special, but theres always a bad ass bitch riding shotgun, even if it aint in my 535.

see you at 5erwest, kooks take notes

I'll have you know I get lots of complements when I wear my BMW polo shirt and I think I look quite good in it.
