Pertinent to those that are or already have converted their 528e to 528i specs, I've installed these newer type injectors on my 325i. These are high impedence injectors, which replace the OEM 715 injector.
The old injectors have 131,000 miles on them; all looked like this.
This is the Bosch side of the injector. These are rated at 15 pounds per hour flow at 2.5 bar.
This is the business end of the 969 injector, sorry about the focus, but you can still see that it's quite different than the OEM pintle type 715. This injector has three very small ports on it with nothing projecting through them.
There was some discussion about the fuel pressure regulator on the Motronics 1.3 system, so this is the OEM regulator on this 6/89 build date 325i Cabriolet. This is a 3.0 bar regulator.
Once the fuel system had repressurized itself, the car started and ran fine. I took it on a short 15 minute run after it had idled for about 5 minutes. Everything appears to be in order, and we'll see if the fuel consumption goes down as expected. :p
