So the previous owner of my car was a large man. You can call him fat. You can call him big boned. You can call him a healthy eater. Whatever you want to call him, he was bigger'n me. . . I guess that's not saying much, though.
I don't know if his largesse had anything to do with it, but the driver's seat has been broken ever since I bought the car in September, 2003. I've finally gotten fed up with it and have found some time (I'm off work until 3PM Tuesday afternoon) to take care of a few niggling things on my car that've been bothering me.
When you look at the car from behind, looking through the rear windshield, you can see the driver's seat looks twisted toward the right. That's counter-clockwise if viewed from above. The bottom seat cushion doesn't look turned at all, although I haven't really examined it very well. It's the seat back that looks most twisted.
However, I think the bottom seat cushion is the problem. It's definitely one of the seat motors. I think one of the bottom seat cushion's right side motors isn't working. I think it's the one on the right that helps to raise the front half of the seat cushion, because whenever I press that button, the cushion just raises to the right as if the left side motor works fine but the right side one doesn't work at all.
Now, I've fixed the headrest motors before. I know about the too-short cable on them. Is this the same problem, or is there something else that may be the culprit? Assuming the motor hasn't just burned out or something, what would be the fix for the cable? Do the cables come out, break, bind, etc sometimes, or is this some weird thing that I'm going to have to just take the motor out and examine?
TIA,
