I have been offered an ABS system off an E28 which is supposedly complete. I would like to fit it into my E28.

The parts comprise of:
ABS pump
ABS control unit
ABS sensors and other wiring

Am I lacking in any parts necessary for me to complete the retrofit properly?

Do I need any ABS compatible wheel hub?

Please advise.

Thanks,
alex

Yes, you'd need the wheel hubs/bearings, as well as struts and/or trailing arms, and almost all the piping. IMO, it'd be easier to learn to threshhold brake!

I was afraid of that!

Are the wheel hub / bearings costly to buy new? The trailing arms you refer to is that for the rear? How do I tell the ABS and non-ABS TA apart?

I can't speak to the prices on bearings/hubs over there in the UK.

As for the trailing arms, yes, trailing arms are only on the rear. Just look at one with ABS and see how the sensor mounts, then compare it to one that doesn't have the mount.

I agree with Shawn on this one, as I almost always do. Way more work than benifit in my opinion. Practice maximum braking in an open/deserted area, these cars have amazing brakes from the factory.
