E34 M5 For Sale in St. Louis 75K miles

For Sale: $22,500; mileage=75,300. Sterling silver/silver leather interior. VIN=WBSHD9316MBK05440 This car has seen light but steady use; I am the fourth owner. Spent 99.9% of the time with the first owner in California. 2nd and 3rd owners: alpinamotorsport and m-racer; Combined time they owned this car is ~ one year and car never has seen snow or salt. Under my watch the car has never even seen wet weather, period. The alpinamotorsport had portions of the front of the car painted to a very high standard to eliminate the inevitable rock chips. At present, there are only a couple tiny rock chips on the car. All of the door cards are perfect--no evidence whatsoever of deterioration so commonly seen in e34 vehicles. Due to California living, this car is absolutely rust free. The car lives in my private heated garage space when not in use---which is most of the time. I will obtain additional images of the undercarriage, engine compartment and trunk, but for now, the web pages listed below are all that I have at the time of this posting. This car is truly a time capsule with obsessive/compulsive maintenance.

Many more images of the car can be accessed by visiting the URLs of the flickr and picasaweb albums as follows:

I have brought her up to current on all the maintenance issues and potential trouble prone areas. Maintenance procedures performed in St. Louis by Tom Bradley (Bradley Motor Werke) using only OEM BMW M5 specific parts. I also had the spare wheel polished out to perfection to match the others. I found a fella here in St. Louis who does stellar work on wheels. Since the headliner has been totally replaced, the weird scent of old headliner is gone and is now replaced by the aroma of high quality leather. I had the transmission and differential fluids changed out, too with the recommended fluids. I replaced the front bumper license plate area impact strip with the embossed BMW letters--so no holes in that piece now. I replaced the rubber gaskets in all the doors with new ones (the old ones were deteriorated from heat and pressure)-now, with new rubber, all the doors close with a nice solid thunk, like a bank vault. There are no squeaks, rattles or other distracting sounds in the passenger cabin.

This car has literally had every conceivable base covered on service (brand new water pump, for example though the old one never failed, upgraded timing chain tensioner and associated seal, rear cam seal replaced, new coolant overflow tank and BMW blue coolant, brake fluids flushed, new headliner, all issues with suspension fixed (replaced accumulators/no leaks from SLS related parts), new bushings everywhere (plus new control arms, rear Pitman arms), new fuel filter canister, coolant hoses, trunk lift shocks and so much more). I also upgraded all the headlight bulbs, a real pain, but worth it. I made a loose leaf folder with all the receipts (including the ones from the first California owner) put in clear jackets. Most recent receipts total over $5K. The car has seen no rain, snow, or salt and sits with a trickle charger and car cover when not in use in my private, heated garage at work. All of the annoying issues that the car had (though minor in restrospect but expensive to fix) when I bought it are all solved. The car rides, handles, and runs like it should. The only modifications performed are easily reversible (the Jim Conforti eprom chip and clear turn signals). Additionally, there are 3 sets of floor mats: the original carpeted factory mats, gray rubber mats (pictured), and recently purchased gray Cocomats. This M5 also has the staggered 17x8, 17x9 forged polished lip wheels ; the throwing star portion of the wheel has the factory finish paint. The Michelin Pilot tires are 80% of new. There is truly nothing left to do...This car is so clean it is ridiculous. Contact info: this web site, my email -- cathealer@gmail.com or my cell: 314-369-4639. For questions about the car's condition or servicing, you can also email Tom Bradley at Bradley Motor Werke -- tpbradley333@yahoo.com

Absolutely stunning e34 ///M5. m-racer and I were just discussing (via email) its recent appearance on BaT. Best of luck in finding it a home with a suitable enthusiast who will honor the work of those enthusiast caretakers before him (or her)...

Damn! That car makes my worm crawl! :D

Just beautiful. If I didn't have the 533 in the garage, I think I'd buy this.

Nice... but haven't each of you decided that an E34 M5 just doesn't give you the same vibes as an E28?

The body style was pretty cool back in the day but doesn't do much for me now.

An awesome car none the less.

Leonard,
Yes, I may have sold my '91 M5 but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the model's finer virtues and historical significance. This particular example's ownership provenance, condition, and value are impeccable. Any 5er enthusiast interested in a very well-sorted, pristine, low-miles e34 ///M5 should strongly consider this one. JM2CW.

Interesting that you have asked me that question. I have have had considerable seat time in 5 series BMWs since 1982. I have had an e12 528i (5 speed) for 10 years, e28 535i (5 speed) for 20 years, an e34 M5 (for 2 years -- another car, not this one currently for sale), and an e34 525iT (for 7 years). As such, my seat of pants opinion is as follows: The E12 528i 5 speed was the most engaging, the most enjoyable car to drive. The close, followup favorite is the 525iT. I liked the looks of the 535i 5-speed, but it was a boring version of the E12 it replaced. The M5(E34 in this case) is a wonderful car to drive. However, for me personally, I am looking in a totally different direction for my next car. And it is not a BMW. It is......

The DS came in third in the 1999 Car of the Century competition, recognizing the world's most influential auto designs, and was named the most beautiful car of all time by Classic & Sports Car magazine.

You have ignored the more significant discussion regarding E28 vs E34.

Saw one of those on the road here a couple of days ago. It was silver. Not too many around.

I'm sad to see you'd sell that gem of an E34 ///M5 for whatever that hideous looking pear-on-wheels is.

My reaction as well, especially since I used to own that car and know the time and effort that was shared by all the owners. That said, one man's vanilla is another's rocky road. Funny. I can't eat ice cream but as a metaphor it still works.

Its the one you had Tim? That car was awesome. Makes sense now since there could not be two that were that nice.

Yep. I bought it from Mark (Alpinamotorsports) and sold it to Gary (Cathealer) when i went to work in the UK. It's a beautiful car. Hard to find one that has had a legacy where 100% of the owners respected the car.
