Mint 1988 528

Post by Btp_garage »

I have had a nearly show room condition 88 e28 sitting in my storage for a while now. I do not have the title for it currently but I have a bill of sale. It was bought from a storage auction and has not seen more than a few minutes of daylight in 14 years. It has no engine but everything else! Transmission and all. ONLY missing the engine. I would like to sell it as a whole car but if I cannot I will part it out. I'm asking $1000 Obo for the car as is. Will post photos soon. It is silver in color, everything is like new. Interior, exterior, even the tires and brakes. Has BMW sticker on right rear quarter window still... Tool kit in trunk is complete and never used.
Pm me for more info or to come take a look. I'm in Johnson county kansas

Is it Polaris Silver per chance? If so, Mr. Kohler may be interested.

By the way, the car has 125k miles on it, it is in fact a 5 speed manual transmission, it has the M shift knob but i dont know if it has any other M options. I dont really know much about bmw's honestly. I bought this one to get into them and learn because i love the E28 body style. I know it was in the last batch of this body style and its fully loaded. Power everything, black leather interior, I have the factory cassette booklet, the trunk tool kit has never been used, it has every bolt in bags that came out of the engine bay, another M20 (super ETA) engine is ready to drop into it! basically plug n play lol. I have the ecu and everything. with the trunk full of spare parts.

Add a mint car freshener and you're good.

The car is Lachssilber.

It's dusty in the photos, 14 years dusty... Has zero rust. See it in person before you speak on an un-knowledgable subject such as another man's car you have never seen. Please keep negative comments to yourself as they are not needed in a subject of selling a car. Unless you are looking to buy it. Come look at it in person and find more than a few scratches on it. Find rust, look at the factory sticker on the passenger quarter window. If I hadn't have gotten the factory service records wet and thrown them out you would see my friend. But I am not here to press a car onto a subjective person. I am here to unwillingly let go of a car I wish to keep. It will sell its self.

Where should we begin? There are several areas of immediate concern from the pictures alone, but hey, I wouldn't buy it anyway.

Okay, I'm confused. (No big feat, right?)

Is it missing the super eta M20, or does it include a known good super eta M20 that just needs to be dropped in? All for only $1000?

I'm also curious why you didn't just finish the project. I'd love to hear more.

Thanks,

No it does not include or have the engine. It has everything in the trunk that was remove from the car. I purchased it from a storage action with intentions of learning about the car because I love that body style. I don't know much about BMWs. My shop specializes in 240sx nissans and FC rx7's. I just wanted to dig into the BMW world because they are amazing cars the are built incredibly well. When I got it it had a 1998 California license plate on it. There is not any visible rust on the car. I thuroughly inspected it tonight and have photos of the common rust spot areas. It does come with spare parts in the trunk. The date on the door tag is 10/87 and the vin is WBADK7308J9833605 if you are wondering. I did find a crack in the dash exactly one inch long from the middle "vent" cover or whatever it is coming from the corner facing the drivers seat. Other than that there aren't any dash cracks. The seats are in really good condition. No wear spots just the common creases from leather. The interior is infact a dark blue color not black as I previously thought. It has had the cat removed but still has the center muffle and what seems to be a new rear muffler. The rims are in good condition and it has a brand new Spare. There are 2 sets of BMW factory brake pads new in the box in the trunk. The pads that are on it are really good as far as I can see. I did find an issue though. The key that's in the ignition doesn't work anywhere on the car. Only the drivers door is unlocked. None of the other doors can even be unlocked by pulling the lock up by hand for some reason. Is there a trick to it? All four tires have 90% tread. There is no rust in the spare wheel well or above the taillights in the trunk. I do not know if the odometer works still but I'm going to give the car power tomorrow and lift the rear off the ground to check. I will let you know if that is positive tomorrow.

unplug the negative on the battery, re-reconnect it and try the door locks again.

Good thing I missed this one as I've driven to KS to buy 2 of my last e28's this year. Let the owner know to post updates if when he can, or even better yet to hit up us Nebraska guys if he's in this neck of the woods. The force is strong over yonder! :D

I think it's a good thing I don't check this forum daily any more; I'd be in even bigger trouble with my wife because of this car.

Who ended up dragging it home?
