who's good at math?

I am horrible at math.

Have this problem I can't solve.

t=29-1/4(w-k)

I have to solve for k.

who's good at math here?

t=29-1/4(w-k)

4t=4x[29-1/4(w-k)]

4t=96-(w-k)

4t+k=96-w

k=96-w-4t

We night need to move math questions to TP... I did like that link though. I love a good rant.

man you're pretty quick.

so instead of flipping the fraction, you just used the denominator on both sides? all these rules annoy me, I'm going to school for english...all this math is tough.

Missed a negative sign in there. The -(w-k) didn't get carried through.

4t-k=96-w

k = 4t-96+w

I think...

that's what's really hard for me.

all the homework questions are done on the internet so it's even more annoying. I get points off for certain letters being case sensitive. gets me so mad and I told the teacher it's bullshit.

No it's not.

I just really needed to see "how it's done" because the book only covers so many parts of this style problem.

the fraction is what threw me off.

if it was something like:

y=26-x (solve for x)
or s=qrx (solve for r)

well those are simple

even something like:

v=3x+33t (solve for t) those are all easy.

fractions within those problems give me problems solving them.

When you have a fraction just multiply both side by the denominator. It gets rid of it. Just make sure you distribute correctly.

For example:

1/2x=3y+z

Would be the same as:

2*[1/2x=3y+z]
x=6y+2z

Also, this is the correct answer:

Ah, happy to help then. In the future feel free to also include which part of the problem you're having issues with and I'd be glad to help.

Is that (1/4)*(w-k) or 1/(4*(w-k))?

1/4 * (w-k)

1/4 * (w-k)
So from my understanding, you meant:
t = 29 - (1/4) (w - k)

t - 29 = - (1/4) (w - k)

(t - 29) / (1/4) = -w + k

[(t - 29) / (1/4)] + w = k

k = 4t + w - 116

I don't want to mess you up. Please make this straight. Are you saying t equals twenty-nine, minus one-fourth of w minus k?

Or do you actually mean t equals twenty-nine, minus one over four times w minus k? Because that is how you write it.

So you're going to school for English so you can skip the math? You don't know it already? May I suggest you do the opposite? Math is cool and it will make you look and feel geeky, which women love BTW. And with enough math you can actually see the world in vertical streaming symbols. :)

Algebra is why I never went to college. It's bullshit. Need it for everything.

Now, Geometry, I used to be great at. All A's through high school. Hit Algebra and barely made it through....barely.
That makes me want to pick up a math book and try again. :oops:
