The First E39 Alpina B10 V8
The First E39 Alpina B10 V8
This is the first E39 B10 V8 on its way to Toronto from Germany, and it’s the first Alpina B10 V8 to cross the ocean and land in North America in about 6 weeks. Also it’s the light weight version, no sunroof, manual seats and other stuff that reduce the weight. This car produce 340 HP and 348 T and it is 400 lb lighter then e39 M5. The transmission is special made by Alpina for this application so it’s almost similar as SMG but not exactly. The shifters are located on the steering wheel so its really easy to operate and has no delay surprisingly. The color is Alpina Blue.

Thanks for the complementColdswede wrote:Sia,
Not sure what your doing right but I catch hell at home 'cuz I have "Three Cars!" and your up to at least six now. I suppose the fact your are diamonds might help though.
Just being myself, an enthusiast, Also helps if you could have access to a separate storage place other than home, so as they say “out of sight out of mind”.

I will totally post my impressions when it reaches the True North Strong and Free and I get some wheel time.Justin_FL wrote:Looks like an interesting vehicle, Sia!
Peter, I would be curious of your impressions of the Alpina changes as observed from the driver's seat since you are a 540i/6 sport package owner.
Mind you my 540i/6 is laid up right now needing a timing chain + guide rail R&R... Stupid V8.. LOL...
Let me explain, Peter and I have started this tradition that we take each new arrival (newly purchased car) for a day long test drive, so when Peter is talking about wheel time, that’s what it means. And I am looking forward to it.KillerPM wrote: I will totally post my impressions when it reaches the True North Strong and Free and I get some wheel time.
One of the reasons that we do this is to check and make a list of the areas that would require maintenance and testing the capability of the car and possibly further improvement, and as you know I love improvements. Overall I get to enjoy the day with my toy and my friend.
m-racer wrote:That is very exciting! I think I would keep it auto for a while. I drove a friend's Dinan S2 540i with an auto for a weekend and it was a spendid car. I also drove an Alpina Z8 which was auto and didn't miss rowing the gears. Best, Tim
Yes, I’ll take your advice for keeping it for now, also I was happy with my e39 Dinan auto as well and as far as I know Cousin Billy is enjoying it as we speak. For me E39 is the last chasse that I would buy to keep and if it’s Alpina than its even better.
I wish the car could arrive before RTT13 event so I could do some maintenance work and take it to RTT13 for a good and very long test drive.
I was so excited to hear that everything is lined up for transportation and importation that I just simplify my original post so I could give the facts.
Here are the things that I know about this car.
• one owner car
• all service done and dealer stamps that goes with it
• no accident
• recent services in last 5k , brakes, tires, fluid changes
• 85K miles or 137K Kilometers
• 3:15 rear diff – (M5 has the same as well as 540 sport)
• Alpina suspension and sway bars
• 4.6 V8 M62, Alpina crank shaft, pistons, cams, heads and software.
• • Alpina cluster, steering wheel, mats and Alpina wood interior
• Alpina exhaust system
• Vented brake (two ply disk) all around
• 18 “ Alpina Soft line rims 8 and 9
• no sunroof or slick roof
• manual leather sport seat
• no navigation system
• original car phone, Ha-ha
• electric rear sun shade
• AC and other things work fine.
Can’t wait to Sianaize it!

Very good question Kyle, Alpina does not compare the B10 with anything, it’s a car that they built and sale as a car manufacturer but media and people always compare the best against the best that they know which is M5 and see the B10 an alternative choice to M5, although is hard to believe but like any other cars that they built, this one is not just a pretty face they are all about performance.Kyle in NO wrote:Originally, would Alpina have promoted this car as being an intermediate option between the 540i Sport and the M5, or was this intended to be superior to even the top 5-series offering? Seems that with the auto trans and lower HP, it would be an apples to oranges comparison directly to the M5.
There are lots of figures and numbers out there and feel free to check it out, but one thing that they have in common is that B10 Vs M5 and average difference in speed is only 1 or 2/10 of a second in short runs and on top speed, B10 has higher speed than M5.
There are many ways to skin a cat, Alpina took a full equipped 540 (for average built) which is 100 kilo (200 Lb) lighter than M5 chasse, so there is a advantage in terms of weight to HP / Torque ratio
In my case, the previous owner was an enthusiast and wanted a little lighter then average e39 so he deleted bunch of stuff so this car as I mentioned is 400 LB +_ lighter, and I really like to see what this is all about.

Hahahahahahahaha.................Clarkson beating the crap out of an e39 B10!
And I found his comments interesting comparing the e39 B10 to the e39 M5....."the B10 is quieter, more comfortable, faster and handles better than the M5."

Nice acquisition Sia! From poking around on the boards for a little more than a year, you seem like the right person to own such a beast!
