Jack Cavanaugh Memorial Car Show, Clean Car Contest and Charity Auction. Hosted by the San Diego BMWCCA and BMW of Escondido. May 19, 2013 9:00am to 3:00pm
Wow, I can't believe this is the first thread for this event which is only two weeks away:
http://www.sdbmwcca.com/cleancar/2013.php
This is a great event; last year was my first time attending and this year is my first year participating as an entrant. I've been frantically cleaning the M535i for the past month of weekends and still have miles to go.
This event is a whole lot of fun in a fantastic venue and always draws in a great crowd. Plus it's always great seeing the other SoCal and San Diego guys as well. AND it's for a good cause.
To my fellow attendees and entrants, I have a few logistical questions:
1. Who brought the canopy last year and can they bring it again this year? Much needed and cherished.
2. Beverages: This was a sore-spot last year as we ran out and were rather parched by mid-afternoon. I will bring one cooler that I am happy to fill with ice, water, iced-teas, and oh yeah, some of those b**r thingys, but others will likely be needed.
(Note: this is a public venue and park and open alcohol is verbotten by law, but I never saw that stopped any of the SD guys from enjoying themselves. I assume the Drink Daddy 2000 will be making another appearance...Darin?)
Otherwise, can I get a show of hands for attendees and entrants?

Vince,
Welcome to a very fun event indeed. If you recall there has only been several of us making noise to the rest of you SoCal folks for several years but we always get the cold shoulder.
Sorry you have missed past years and I have NEVER heard of running out of cocktails. That is just WRONG! I was not there last year due to the passing of my father but I can assure you all will be right with the world again. In fact I believe I will be bringing the much enjoyed sangria INCLUDING the fruit. Bring a fork...
All,
If you are within a couple hundred miles you need to put this on your list. It really is a great event and as mentioned is all for charity.
Please note that this year there will be no catered lunch.
I suggest bringing some breakfast snack stuff to go with the Bloody Mary's that can be found in both Charles' and my car and then something for lunch. The event goes 'til around 3ish so plan accordingly.
Me and the Drink Daddy look forward to seeing you there and Vince buying me a beer 'cause his car is dirty.

I will be there. With a fork. Nothing like eating fruit.

M5?
Did he assemble one from all the parts he's sourced in the yards down there?

He has had one for a couple years now.
Even the CHP knows he has one.

You would think with all the PPI help that Griff gave Ricky on this car that John would have known about it by now.

I lost track of who has what around here. See what happens when you upgrade to a mustang gt.

Frankly I want to think all this effort I've putting into this car is worthy of a little healthy competition.
I mean, I like cleaning my car and all, but otherwise, what was the point of all the raw skin and evil looks from my wife?

What's great about all the effort in getting a car ready for this event is that it really brings the car up to a higher level. In addition it helps rekindle the love affair.

I hope so. I need a break. Of course, this really won't be a break since I'm bringing work.

Mike's here. He brought is 86 in a 65 speeding ticket with him.
That's why I don't text on the Autobahn section of I-5.

What, no pity for Bronzit?
I'm unfortunately (or, lucky for yous) out this year, too many unfinished projects around the house. I'm really bummed about missing it this year since Darin guaranteed the alcohol well wouldn't dry up like it did last year. I'll get all my shtuff done and catch ya'll in HB in a couple of weeks. May the wind at your back be your own and not someone else's, and any rain be of the sunshine type!
