E30 sport seats in my E28?

Post by Phatbus »

I don't really like the comfort seats in my new E28 and saw a couple sport seats for sale on R3V out of an E30. What do you guys think I should do? I really like the electronic seat adjustment but I "need" the sports. Should I wait to find a pair of E28 sports or go for the E30's that I can get pretty cheap? I'm not a purist by any means.
What is your opinion?

If you want light weight manual seats, I say you can't beat e30 sports! Since I own an '85, my choice was clear when it came to swapping in sport seats. (note the lack of seat controls on the console) You'll need adapters if you go this route though.

Are the e28 sports bigger than the e30's or just different mounting locations? I really like my e30 seats and I'm familiar with metal working/welding so making the brackets won't be difficult.

The e30 seats are a little narrower than the e28 sport seats.

(just to warn you, this is a common question that comes up often, so someone is eventually going to tell you to use the Search function. :) )

If you go e30 sports, no more fat chicks. They are narrow!

FiverDiver has E30 Sports in his 535i and I seem to recall him really liking them.

that was actually my plan for the car orginally too. I still have a set I bought from Anees and haven't even seen them, but supposedly in rather nice shape! Gray leather, heated, manual sports. Unsure if I really need them if you want to talk. Can't wait to see the car again...

Give me a week to figure out about an e30 I'm considering and whether or not the seats in it are keepers. I got them at a fair deal so of course I'll pass that on to you my friend.
