front sets
I'd like to order 1 set of the front set. Are they pre-drilled?
Hope so!
Thanks

Re: front sets
Do you see the nuts welded to the bracket? wouldn't make sense to weld it on and not have a hole there to line up with it.alpinass wrote: 1 set of the front set. Are they pre-drilled?

First rear sets will be going out tomorrow for those that have sent payment. Front & rear sets will go out Friday.
Just a reminder, if you're interested in a set, I'll be able to put orders together this week, then I'll be on travel for a while and the next round of orders will go out the first week of December.
If you want a set before then, let me know this week!

FS: sway bar reinforcement kits
Hi Aaron, I've got both front and rear kits and had them installed for me. The car felt really tight and overall I was very pleased not only with the promised prompt delivery and actual parts but the results as well. Thank you!
However, as I filled up the car with gas, the "front end" started to squeak, I presume because it became heavier? At first I thought it might be a welded bracket that broke lose or something, but actually are both the poly bushings that are doing all the squeaking noise.
Unfortunately for me, I could not be present at the time of the installation, so I am suspecting your thoughtful photo instructions that came with both kits were NOT met, as the grease you kindly provided was not even applied to the bushings!
Therefore I would like to ask your for some advice on to how to diminish the noise and also, could you kindly please email me or post a picture of the front brackets mounted in your car (if you have any) that it is in a horizontal position or straight? Not shot from below or angled? This is to compare it with the actual installed set up in my car.
The mechanic who performed the job "lost" the grease you provided so I ended up spraying lithium grease but the noise still persists on both front ends specially when I encounter potholes on the road or uneven pavement.
Maybe I need to unbolt the brackets, dismount the sway bar and either apply more lithium in between the bushings or perhaps lithium grease does not do well with these type of poly bushings so I will need to purchase a little pack of the same grease you provided?
Other than that, I have to say it again, I am very pleased with everything; the parts, shipping and purchasing experience overall and even the results (minus the noise).
Thank you and I hope you can help me out. I would hate to discover the brackets are not installed properly, but if need to I will have to buy them from you again.
I will submit or email you pictures ASAP.

harrypalmer, appreciate the feedback.
As for the squeaking, yes, those poly bushings have got to have a good coating of grease on the inside surfaces to prevent squeaking. The stuff that comes with the kit is the same as this grease if you need to buy more:
http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Suspension ... 947&sr=8-1
The good news here is that they are really easy to grease. Drive the car up on ramps, unbolt the sway bar at the bushings (leaving the endlinks connected), remove the bushings, and regrease (apply on the bar and the inside of the bushing surface). No need to remove the wheels. Make sure to loctite the bolts on installation as per the instructions.
In your case I'd go one step further and attempt to remove the spray on lithium grease as much as possible to ensure the thicker stuff stays in. If you're in a pinch and can't wait to order additional grease, any heavy duty synthetic grease from the hardware store should work fine, but might not last as long. It should be as thick and tacky as possible. I've actually used marine grease in these types of bushings with pretty good success:

I can definitely post another pic of it installed on my car with attention being paid to a level camera. I may not be able to get to this until after work tonight. It should be vary similar to the one in the instructions.

Hey Aaron, Thank you very much for your super quick advice and links to get the grease. I will do as suggested and get back to you with results. I also will like to email/post some picts for you to give me feedback if possible. Have a great day!akluminus wrote:Another quick check is to see if the bracket is somewhat parallel with the frame rail.

action - reaction
Regarding rear of a 528e, and considering the 'action - reaction' deal with the forces… definitely strengthening the attachment point (bracket) for the sway bar-to-body is a good idea if using a 19mm bar. I experienced the bracket bust-off situation so I'm glad a thoughtful design for a fix is now available thanks to Aaron. I wonder something else now though. Has anyone encountered strength issues with the other end of the operation, i.e. the small metal tabs on the rear suspension trailing arms to which the ends of the sway bar links are attached? Mine got bent somehow, pushed over to one side, probably during the event that tore the bracket off the car.
ok. Clicky and see. Sorry for the out of focus.

Well, that is interesting. The rear reinforcement kit I have is intended to keep the bracket attached to the car, which seems to be the largest failure mode due to the small spot welds. I'm surprised at the way it cleanly ripped the nut out!
In your case, I'd probably just weld a new rectangular plate to the backside of the front mount face where it tore off with a new captive nut. The mounting surface won't be completely smooth, but should be just fine.
Then reinforce the mount to the frame using my kit if needed.

I was thinking that I could keep the fix simple and pro like this:

Then, I could pursue reinforcing, with your product.
Would have to grind and fit, likely still have to empty and drop the tank. Hoping to clip off or somehow cut off a bracket from another car..
As it is, today I am deleting the r sway bar - can't stand the rattles..
I don't weld (yet) and, don't think this project is a good opportunity to learn.
Thoughts and comments welcome.

The above I just cut off of another car.
Lots of trouble understanding how to post photos. .
Looking for a larger fuel tank - if I have to drop it, might well replace it with something bigger.

That'll certainly work! I would definitely reinforce them since they'll now be two pieces welded together.

Thanks, I will be driving a little while w/o rear sway bar.
Know an exhaust shop that might do the welding - need to check that out: I would like to purchase the reinforcement kit - after xmas of course. Please, save me some? I know, with the holiday rush, they must be flying off the shelves, right? Just kidding - cheers, Aaron.

Re: FS: sway bar reinforcement kits
Hey man do you still have some available?
Re: FS: sway bar reinforcement kits
I do. If you're looking for a 25mm front bushing kit, I'll need a few days to get the next set of 25mm bushings in, but everything else is still in stock (front and rear kits).

Re: FS: sway bar reinforcement kits
I just have the stock 19mm. But If I wanted to upgrad in the future would I just need new bushings?
Re: FS: sway bar reinforcement kits
Yep, you can opt for 19mm front bushings now, then when you upgrade, swap in any larger sizes bushing as the mount use standard Energy Suspension bushings.

Will these brackets work with the Powerflex bushings and M5 sway bars? I was able to source the OEM M5 brackets, but still need a way to attach them to the car.
