I’m looking to recover my sport wheel on my 535is. I’d like to increase the thickness of the grip as well. Any recommendations for a detail oriented shop?

Chris Scow has done two wheels for me, a handbrake cover and a very early gear shift knob He offers your choice of thread color and stitch. Highly recommend him.

I used to be appalled at the prices of steering wheel recovering. Having done a most basic repair of the tri color stitching on my E36 wheel, simply rejoining missing stitching with a single color, only on the top third or maybe a quarter, I have no idea how the guys who do it, do it for the price they do.

I know you do something and get better at it, and you're a pro, but at best, there's a lot of labor involved, especially for the /// stitching, let alone the leather.

Nothing good or bad about the people referenced, just my .02 about the difficulty level.

FYI, Chris has stopped restoring steering wheels to pursue other projects. He said he may resume the business next year but wasn’t sure.
