The shifter linkage (under console) bracket welds broke and I will be installing a new bracket.
This is my bracket (sorry not sure how to paste a picture)

So I was reading this OLD post
https://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=122268
I'm a bit confused.
They talk about bolting the bracket on rather than welding which I prefer.
But they mention placing a bushing between bracket and body. I am not sure why I would do this?
Thanks for your help

Re: Shifter linkage bracket welds broke
Can't see the images on that topic, but that piece originally goes welded to the car.
In my car (auto to manual swapped) I just bolted it in place. As far as using a bushing, I think that's wrong (?) At least it doesn't make a ton of sense, since there would be another bushing between that bracket and the sheet metal console.
