Need Alternator adjusting bracket - toothed rack/gear version

Went to adjust the belt, it was squealing... so I grabbed a 13 and a 19, loosened the adjusting bolt, and went to turn to tighten it a bit -- then I saw the bracket, with the toothed rack / geared adjusting bolt, was ... busted in two!
This has broken down by the block. OUCH!
Advice welcome- should I ...
Take it out and weld it back together? (I don't have a welder on hand)
Find and Replace it with an unbroken one?
Hammer a carefully crafted wooden block in between the alternator and mounting boss, to wedge it 'tight?'
Give up and go buy a Prius?

Yes, indeed, that is the culprit ... but I have an update as of an hour ago- I did some searching on the net, and found a local welder who was able (this morning!) to 'make it whole again.'
If I need a spare, what is the asking price?
And NO, I was NOT seriously considering a Prius...
Funny story- we flew to San Francisco to visit the in-laws, and rented a car at the counter just outside the terminal.
The fellow (non-native, barely English speaking) offered us a "Primus." Confused, I asked him who made the Primus, was it a Dodge? He said YES, it is a Dodge Primus.
Turns out is was a Prius, and I had a hell of a time getting it to move out of the parking space. I did everything the 'quick-start' card in the console said, and the damn thing would not move ... would not start ... would not make a sound... that is until my feeble brain kicked in and I pushed the 'go pedal,' at which time it WENT. Silly me.

Make a small donation to MyE28,com and the bracket is yours. PM me with your mailing address and it will be in the mail sometimes in the next couple of days.
