I'm trying to get the stainless trim removed from the top edges of the doors. I pulled out the weatherstripping thinking there may be hidden fasteners but nothing there. Are there clips or is it a friction fit?

That anodized aluminum trim has clips holding it. All I can remember is that the way one would think to remove the clip is the opposite of the way it is released. You would think that you push it one way but the other way is correct.

With the video and the picture of the clip...yes, you push the center of the clip in to get the trim to come off. One would think you would pull the clip out but not on this one. You should be able to get it done with the video.

I think it is similar to e30 trim, clips behind windows rails...see video starting min 7 (in german)

Those do look like the clips. Second picture in this thread is the clip in the raw, middle of the three clips.

You basically have to push them up progressively, in multiple passes.

IMPORTANT: 1) You must remove the mirrors, and 2) The front trim has a screw at the very aft end you access from the back side of the trim.
