$2800. Has some performance upgrades - stainless lines, exhaust, short shifter, but no service records. I am parting my tasetfully modded 85 535i due to rust, plan on moving everything over. Here are pics taken today at the dealership. I talked them down from the asking price of 6K;) Also, car has a newish respray. Very little rust for a northern car. Just a few specs on the underbody. I am psyched...

206K miles. I am also saving my old M30 motor with 230K for a stock rebuild + TCD turbo kit .....

For the money, I think you did pretty well, Derek. I too like the color scheme....get that sport seat fixed (metal frame under the leather on the bolster)...lose the ricer-look steering wheel...and you'll be in good shape. Keep us posted! Kudos!

Thanks for the comments, guys. Here are some pics of the car I am parting. That momo wheel is replacing the ugly wheel in the 535is. It shines up nice, but has lots of rust issues underneath, needs a complete exhaust from the manifolds back, and the body is not perfectly straight, 2nd paintjob. I initially bought it as a beater to baby my e30, and I fell in love with the e28. It drives and handles like a dream, oh well.

Derek,

I've always liked the look of those Borbets on a bronzit-beige E28. I was thinking about getting a 16" set of those for my 528e as a temporary replacement for my 15" E32/E34 bottlecaps while I wait for enough funding for the 17" M3 wheels I've always wanted.

Yours appear to be 15". Am I wrong and they're really 16?

Yo Shifty,

They are 15x7's. I run my winter tires on them. At first I didn't like them, but I needed 15" snow wheels fast, since I have the e32/34 brakes now. They have since grown on me. I wish I bought the ones with the small lip, these have none. In the summer, I have e34 basketweaves and a set of staggered 16x7 16x8 gold BBS wheels. Pictured below are the bbs wheels:

Let me know when you're ready to sell the rear bumper on your old car.

Ok, I'm going to be the guy without a 5er and who's been looking for too long, but I have to tell you, I've passed up MUCH better looking cars for less than the asking 5995 price on this one with MUCH lower miles, enthusiast owned, yada 3x.

You got a cracked dash, icky steering wheel, some shadowline (not the full as previously stated) and some nice wheels over a leather that is in need of some serious help with over 200 on the clock....please tell me you didn't pay what they were asking!

I've seen too many really purdy ones for less than five. I'm not trying to pee on your parade. I hope YOU are the one who really loves this car. Unlike TT and others, red makes me a little sick to my stomach..but to each his own. Generally it kinda looks like you got screwed. :-(

Sorry, I just couldn't play along.

In his original post, he said he talked them down from their $6k asking price.

Tom, just buy Todd's 745i, you obviously have too much time on your hands... :D
Completely with you on the Cardinal leather, I just can't do red.
