I was down at the welding supply place a few days ago, which is in a pretty nasty part of my city. On the way back to civilisation, I spotted a black 6er in some guy's driveway. Upon closer inspection, it was a Euro! Made a note of it, and took off. I went back tonight to have a closer look.

Turns out it has already been sold to someone else, but the guy has yet to pick it up after a month. I gave the owner my card, and asked him to phone me if anything changes. I go and look at it anyway, and note it is a manual trans, non sunroof, 633csi, E12 based. Black over cardinal leather. I noticed that the right rear window was broken, hood had a dent in it, and there was a small bit of rust around the rear arches, and under the back bumper. Owner told me it runs great, but needs struts. Not bad at all, right? Especially for $500!

Well, we open the hood, and take a look. Can anyone guess why the hood has a reverse dent in it?

YIKES!!!!

Have a look at the other side. Damn near as nasty!

Wow, Karmann may not have invented rust, but they sure knew how to make it better!

So, if the guy calls me back, will I still give him $500 for it? I already have a much more solid Euro 635 parts car, so so I need another one? It has a good dash, good rear deck pods, and some other nice parts, but I don't know if it's really worth $500 now. We'll see.

If I actually end up with it(doubtful), I will just part it out. I've got a rust free(really) 77 630csi shell that will receive all the mechanicals from my other rusty Euro 635csi, but I would likely pull the Euro bumpers, and some of the other Euro goodies for my daily driver 633. Sell off the rest of the parts.

See if he'll give you $500.00 to take it off his lot.

Well, if the other guy doesn't show up for it in a reasonable time from now, he will likely just give the damn thing to me, or very cheaply. We'll see, but I don't really care either way.

And Tony is right, it's $500 Beaver Bucks.

i'd save your money. with the strut tower wasted like that, it is too much investment to get it road ready. minor body work is $ as well.

parting out may be too much of a headache than it is worth. i'm sure the guy who was going to buy it is thinking the same way now.
