If you haven't seen this, it is really quite something. Check out the soundtrack too...cues you into important events in the launch, separation from the main fuel tank, and parachute deployment. After they separate from the main fuel tank, it seems like they free fall for quite a while...notice their "flight pattern" on the decent...dizzying to say the least! :D

Glad you guys enjoyed those links. I was VERY happy to see that NASA posted up these clips. My son has been requesting the SRB clip each night before bed for 4 days now...pretty cool! When I was his age (in 1969), my Dad had my bedroom wallpapered in NASA information / posters. It was amazing. I still have a lot of the materials he wrote away to NASA for during the whole "space race" era. It was inspiring stuff for me...
