For Sale: 1987 535is 5-speed, 145,000 miles.

Post by P-Easy »

I am located just south of Allentown, PA.
Car runs good, but the idle needs to be adjusted a little. I purchased the car a few months ago for $2,000, and then sunk about $2,300 more into the car for repairs and inspection costs. I have all receipts. I am selling the car because it now needs a new tierod and I ran out of money for the car. The car runs and drives good as is. It is currently de-badged but I have a brand new 535is badge for it.

Pro's: New spark plugs, new sparkplug wires, new catalytic converter, new catback exaust, brand new Yokohama tires (less than 50 miles on them), new guibo, new center driveshaft bearing, new rear trailing arm links, new front passenger side balljoint, fresh oil change about 40 miles ago, new fuel filter, Brand new inspection and emmisions, ALL power seat options work; including the headrests, power windows work, leather is in good condition (normal wear on the front, above average for the back), head liner is in great condition. The car also has front and rear sway bars.

Con's: Paint is in rough shape (clearcoat is peeling), needs a new tierod, and needs new radiator which I will include in the sale. A/C fan and belt need replacing and are both included with the car.

I will also throw in a Dinan chip with the car sale, which includes the chip and all paper work for it.

You can take a look at the car below, I will post some more pics along with pics of the interior tomorrow (I'm stuck with a 56k modem for now).

Asking $3,000.

Thanks for your time. PM me for my number or location, and any other questions or details you would like to know about the car.

EDIT: I didn't even state the color combo! The car is royal blau metallic, and the interior is tan. Also, the car does NOT have the US bumpers, it has the BMP kit (so I'm told) that resembles the euro bumpers on the front and back.

See pics here, there is some rust around the trunk latch, and I think there is one small area of rust on the undercarriage. I will take more pics of the underside of the car soon. I promised another member pics but still havnt gotten to it, as I have been crazy busy with school and work. BTW odometer works fine.

Haha, I like the way you say your car has the "optional" peeling clearcoat. Yeah the car is still available.

They are not euro bumper, but rather the BMP kit, which looks alot like the euro bumpers. They came on the car when I bought it though, so I'm not sure where to purchase them.

To be more exact, it looks like you have llama (colored) interior.. Tan is a very broad description since BMW has such a variety of tan interiors!

Thanks! I am not very familiar with E28 colors; I know much more about E39s and E60s. But thanks for pointing that out!

Man, yeah you're really close to me then. I'm like 5 min from the Promenade shops (or Rave Motion Pictures if you don't know the Promenade shops). I've seen a few e28s around, maybe one was you

I know the promenade shops very well! Unfortunately none of the e28's you saw were mine, since mine resides in NJ awaiting a new exhaust and misc. turbo pieces to get her to run again. I was there this weekend and saw two e28's though. I blue 528e and a really really sweet apline white 535is... hope the sale goes well for you but im sure one day you may return to another e28. I just cant get enough of them.

Yup, as soon as I'm done with school, my first purchase is definitely going to be an E39 M5, but if feasible, I will definitely be obtaining an E28 M5 as its partner. I just F*cking love M5s so much. lol

So yeah, the Promenades, I love Rave Motion Pictures. haha

EDIT: You stated your E28 is turbo...that's sick...what are the numbers (Hp,0-60, 0-100) on that thing? Do you know?

No numbers so far b/c i have never taken it on the road yet! Lol its still in progress. I need injectors and some misc. parts. I still need to plumb the oil return and hook up the feed. I just drilled the oil filter housing this weekend for the supply. That and i want to find the right bov that recirculates the air back to the afm. Thank god for thanksgiving break! I really expect it to be ready to drive by christmas break. I know you understand how hard it is to work on a car only a weekend or so at a time while your in school... it sucks balls.. its like a tease. I get one thing done and its time to go back already. If i had a week straight id be done by now..
