FS: 88 735iA needs tranny... SOLD

Post by 1st 5er »

My wifes ex-DD 88 735iA blew the tranny.
Good thing I was driving it when it happened. I think you know why that was a good thing.
I'm testing for tranny availability and price.
Would rather sell the car as it is as it was going to be sold as soon as I got the 'is' or 'M' to DD status anyway, and I'll get to keep my hands clean.
The 3.5 is in excellent shape with less then 125K miles. Cars previous 2 owners were both MDs. There are a couple of warts, but nothing big.

Would like to get at least $1,500 the way it sits. So, you can offer more and I'll definitely consider it. More pics available here .

Edited to add Craigslist ad:
1988 BMW 735i >>>Mechanics dream<<< - $1988 (NW Houston)
Needs automatic transmission rebuilt or replaced.
I know where a used one is for around $250.00
Here are additional pictures:

Only 125,000 miles.
Here's the NADA link for the value: ttp://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22 ... 7429&da=-1
CA$H talks and you know what walks.
Call me - 832-326-9047
Asking $1,988.00 or best offer.
Thanks for considering.

If you decide that you want a tranny, I have one that has about 70k miles. It has been sitting on the shelf since about '97 and was removed from an 89 535 that was hit in the rear quarter.

Driver's window gear has a few teeth missing so it does not go up all the way. Lacks about 1/8 inch.
Passenger front and driver's side rear windows don't respond to switch.
Driver's door will lock automatically with key but not unlock with key.
Missing the dash's wood trim to the left of the steering wheel.
Memory seat function inoperable.
OBC doesn't work. It will need replacing.

Tires are decent but definitely not new.
Will need front struts in the near future, they are what I'll call soft.

I believe that's all the wrong other than the tranny.

After market Indash CD installed.
Rebuilt SI board just installed, purchased from EuroElectric through EBay w/ a three year warranty.

Get it before '09 price increases take affect.

Will consider delivery with prepayment + expenses.
