M20 Intake Support Bracket

Post by jmc1590 »

In lew of the conflicting information I've found by searching, I thought I'd throw this one out to the experts.

The intake manifold support bracket (M20) differs depending on the model (e gets one type, i gets another.) Which makes sense in that there are different manifolds used. What I'm finding confusing is that RealOEM is showing two different part images, with the same part #, for this bracket. (Part #11611708838)

If I search by part #, it returns that bracket on a 528e, a slew of E30's, and an E34. The E28 part info shows the part being used on all 528e's after 9/85. (My MY 10/86 doesn't have this same bracket.)

The E30 "i" and E34 show a different bracket all together. But all three have the same part #.

(I want the part # for the "i" bracket, if it's different.)

Am I missing something?

There is the eta bracket for the cold start valve one, then there is the i one...why do you need the part number? Why not get the part?

My bad. Yes, I'm looking for the part. In particular, I'm looking for the right part. Hense the need for the part #.

My question was based on the result that both the "i" and the eta brackets came up when I queried RealOEM.

Well then buy the correct bracket...its not that hard.

If you want the I one, then you need the I valve cover and the I manifold cap, which if you have a non super eta, then you cant.
You cant interchange.

If you have an I or super eta, then buy that one, USED.
If you have a eta then buy that one, USED.

Meh...the part is listed as ~$4. Why would he waste time trying to find someone that has one, and then convince them to pull it off and send it to him for less than that? Even if the stealership lists it for double it's not worth the hassle...

To the OP, go to or call up your local BMW stealership and have them order it for you based on the car you have...if they get it wrong because of the BMW parts database, it's their problem not yours.

I assume you mean "Id send one for free just to save him money", since I fail to understand a situation where you would actually save your own money by shipping someone else a free part. Assuming my double-list cost of $8 is accurate, and assuming it would cost around $4 to ship your part - which I also assume you don't have so it's all theoretical anyway - that means you would spend $4 to save him $8. You, sir, are a theoretical saint.
