Operation Hartge "2"

Post by RonP »

A few of you were around when Duke had Operation Hartge so I put a little different spin on things. Anyway, when we first got the car I thought I could fix the paint, but after a couple of spins with the buffer I threw in the towel! So, Phil and I stripped the car down and sent her out for a complete paint job. The e28 is such an easy car to strip down!!! They are like Legos. So, here are some "before" pictures. Of course "Sweetie" is in charge and is our Superintendent.

I'm guessing it's just so it wouldn't get scratched.

No, I tape the bumper when I take out the headlights so I don't scratch it.

looks to me like Sweetie ain't superintendin' nothin. She (he?)'s dreaming about going for a drive in the backseat.

Sweetie (she) is a long standing member of the Local 151 K9 Auto Restoration Union and was on a "mandatory" union break.

Pardon my painting ignorance, but, will you strip the decals and then add a new set? or are you able to leave them and "fade" the new paint up to them?

That is such a cool car. Superb colours.

The decals have to be removed and replaced for a proper job.

Yes, what Brett said. The decals were what presented the biggest problem as someone had painted the side of the car and masked them off so there was a big ridge. Sucky, very sucky.

Frankly, if I had feelings, they would be so hurt right now

The funny thing is that my middle name is Ron, why is it that all Rons are Dicks or pussies, I'm pretty sure your a Dick, because you like to fuck people over with those high prices. I guess that makes me a pussy since I can't get those kind of prices ;)

As for the rest of you crotch goblins, have a swell day :)

A local guy that also did the M5 that Chas now owns (aka: the $500 M5).

He had it for a couple of weeks. We caught him in a slow period and he put all of his guys on it and banged it out for us....quick. It came out beautiful and much better than I had expected.

Yep, and yep. I will try to get some shipped from Germany with my wheels. Hopefully they will be here in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks, Johnny. I will do my best to keep a photo journal of the progress. We have just decided to pull the motor so we can make the car just perfect!
