One thing to note, the recommended working pressure is 90psi. I found that it works much better at 180psi.
Yep, that's Ed! That's awesome, I'll be following it for sure.

I always knew hydraulics were the key to HD bodywork, but I foolishly thought it would have to do with jacks and porta powers. I did give my wife a scare one time, I was doing something, I don't remember anymore, jacking, winching with a come a long, whatever, off an anchor in the foundation of the house, and it came loose. It kind of made a noise, but not biggie, an anchor just pulled out. Until my wife came running out saying what happened, the house just jumped  After that I always just used the detached garage slab 8)

I have used trees for come-a-long anchors. . Once, I used the winch on a '46 Ford wrecker to yank the sheet metal from a wrecked PU so I could harvest the engine easier

That rear quarter didn't look too bad after they hit it with the backhoe.

That makes me even more excited. As of last night, I'm officially driving a Quad4-powered Honda CRX at the Lamest Day of Nelson Ledges, a 24-hour LeMons race this fall.

150 whp and 1800 lbs, the thing might actually be quick.

Cool update. I actually just donated our previous track car Mouse-piss smelling project to a local team who is doing the GRM Lemons race. It is a 1984 318i 5spd coupe with no interior, missing a fender, almost rust free actually, seized brakes and motor, and flat tires. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

By the way, I saw Ed and Brian with the LeMons E30 at Thunderbolt this June. The cage is actually really nice. I found some pics online of the CRX I'll be dying, I mean driving in. I'll get permission from the car's current owner before posting them up.

We finished 16th out of 60ish which is pretty good for a bunch of LeMons newbies.

Some of the team is taking the car to The Lamest Day at Nelson Ledges next weekend. I'm busy so I had to bail.

Rumor has it Jay and the boys are considering adding NJMP to the schedule next year. If so, I should have no problem fielding another car and team so I would like to return to my roots. TeamDFL will attempt enter a suitably filthy E28 lacking power (probably a 528e) with funky handling. E30s handle very well in LeMons trim but are very hard to get through BS inspection. With high attendance anticipated at NJMP, getting accepted with an E30 will be difficult as well.

A couple themes are being tossed around, one of which will have something to do with Jersey shore guidos.

16th isn't bad. They dock you any laps for having noch ein schiess E30?

You plan to give the car a mullet and gold chains? Maybe a little chest hair?

Too bad you won't be at Lamest Day. I'll be there driving a yellow CRX--fearing for my life in that tin can. We did beef up the sparse cage it had quite a lot, but it's still not as good as what you had in your E30.

The major concern right now is that our motor lost a couple cylinders last week. Busy week ahead ...

We were going to get slammed with 200 BS laps. They didn't open the hood nor did our captain mention it was a 4 cyl car. Some last minute public humiliation of the captain (by me!) got it knocked down to 70 laps. Considering our fastest lap time was 31.xx, 70 wasn't too bad. Our car was legal but they REALLY do not like seeing E30s, Miatas, and now RX-7s.

The mullets are for the racers. The car would probably sport a thunder chicken decal on the hood.

For some reason, a bunch of people commented on the quality of the cage. We built it to pass BMWCCA and NASA tech. I didn't really understand until I saw some typical LeMons cars in person. Some of that junk is scary.

Yep. The car we're racing was originally built for the GRM 2005 challenge, then re-done for the GRM 2007 challenge. We got it for $300 w/ bolt-in cage installed and a blown motor, which apparently is not yet fixed. :-/

Anyway, the bolt-in isn't much to my liking, but the side impact structure has been heavily reinforced and we've added a little more triangulation. It should be sufficient now, given they're putting chicanes on the longer straights at Nelsonring to keep speeds reasonable. Got my HANS device today, and we're ditching the 5-pt harness the car came with in favor of the Schroth 6-pt. from my track car, so I'll be fairly comfortable I hope.
