What I've had up my sleeve...

Post by tavern gnome »

Since so many of you have been wondering what I was buying with the sale of everything I own, here it is.

1973 BMW 3.0csi
Metric Mechanic 3700 M30
CR Dogleg 5sp trans
Imported by Hardy and Beck from Italy
Lots of H&B and Alpina parts
and lots more.

By far the coolest car I've ever owned. When I drove it last summer I knew I had to do what ever it took to buy it. I told the owner I'd be back for it. Lots of sacrificing and a few months and its mine. Well worth it f you ask me! I'll get out and have some pro shots taken of it when the weather cooperates but here are a few for now.

Ryan

I honestly can't even express how pretty that car is. I would take that car over pretty much any other.

sweet sweet sweet

Is the MM motor FI?

If not, I'm still excited, but not as excited as I'd be if it had an FI motor in it.

Webers are great, but they'll never be motronic reliable.

So is this a euro CSi? If so does it still have D-jet? If not, is it a CS with Motronic? Engine pics, please!

Thanks again. It is in fact a euro Csi. All of the engine stuff is based of an 85 euro 535i including the injection. It moves along pretty well. I haven't had a ton of time behind the wheel because of the rain but it's got great power.

gnome,

congrats. saw your post on e9coupe the other day. Didnt post a response there so let me take a second now to say welcome to the club. I have a 73 coupe, triple webers, alpinas, 5 speed box, bilsteins / h&r's... etc etc etc. Ive been working on it for a little over a year and have most of the major resto stuff done... just finished the interior and now i only need paint... which i'll be doing when it warms up. Not doing a concourse resto, just a really nice driver. Thats one heck of a car you got there.... wish i had the airdam! As i'm sure you know by now, the coupe is a completely different beast from most other bmw's. And with the mods you already have, i'm sure its gonna be a hoot to drive. what FI system are you running? Ive thought about going injection but cant seem to get enough of the look, sound (and smell)... and performance of the webers. My car spent a good amount of time at Lajolla Ind. before i found it and so too has a euro transplant... a euro e24 (82 or 83). Anyway, enough for now. Congrats and enjoy!

I had a 73 that I fitted with a B35 and M1.3. It was a hoot.

Thanks a lot. My car is also not a concours car by any means. Its a very very nice sunny day driver. I honestly wouldn't want one much nicer, I plan on driving this thing every day that the sun is out. I'm not sure what injection system it is, whatever motronic setup that was used in 85. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I bet it was really similar to mine. I think the MM motor is rated at 260 horse but from what I've read, their numbers are often inflated. Whatever it is, I like it... a lot. :D
