i mean thats cool, but we have a 350 in the garage (in a bmw chassis too) without a roller cam or blueprints, and yet the procharger blower we have in it will net us 600 hp conservatively.

Really in the end, forced induction always wins. Now if you were to twin turbo it, then it would be scary and cooler.

Oh come on, get yer nose outta the air. What's the Corvette Z06 have? Pushrod V8. ;)

I thought of you the other day, Duke... The Hemmings Sports & Exotics magazine I was reading had an ad in it for a company that drops a Chevy LS3 & a 6-speed in a Miata, and they bill it as the modern-day Sunbeam Tiger. They need to come up with a name though; Miata just doesn't do it for a roadster with that kind of HP!

Just got another piece for the project. A scatter shield. A little heavier than the aluminum bellhousing but well worth the weight in safety. It will also allow the easy bolting of my narrow pattern toploader to the 1991 6 bolt HO block.

Your M5 flywheel would not last 5 minutes in the Tiger

Is this the same as (or different) a crank scraper? What additional HP should it be good for between what rpm ranges?

Its a windage tray. Different than a crank scraper.

"When the crankshaft is rotating say at highway speed a horizontal vortex of swirling air is generated. The oil in the engine that was pumped up high and residual from the crank assembly is draining back to the oil pan gets caught in this vortex and is spinning too. Some estimate that anywhere from 1 to 3 quarts of oil can be caught in this vortex. A wind-age tray acts like a scraper and removes the oil from the vortex letting it drain back to the oil pan. It does not actually touch the crank shaft but it is close enough to it to skim off the oil and let it drain."

I had a Hartge windage tray in my NA motor.

Update - Plans for Winter 10/11

Now that the big show is over and my car is running perfect, time to get back to the 347.

I just received a rear spring re-enforcement kit that I will be welding in this winter. The front mount points of the leaf springs can actually separate from the body/frame with a high HP engine. A relatively simple fix to prevent this is to weld in three plates on each side. It is much better explained here - http://www.tigerengineering.net/TECHTIP ... cement.pdf Because my car has none of this stress damage, its a perfect time to install the kit.

No - this mod does not devalue the car one $.

I am also installing 1985 RX7 rear disk brakes this winter. A complete bolt on mod. I will also modify the front calipers so they will work with vented rotors.

The final winter mod is to remove all of the interior and fix any surface rust, paint with POR 19 chassis black and then cover the tub with Thermo Tec heat and noise shielding. I was waiting to do this once the car had been authenticated.

In the spring the engine will get completed.

In the spring you will need to buy this suit to keep cool once that big piece of U.S. iron is installed in your car.

HA!

You might consider this product for your insulation, both sound and heat, needs. It seems to be the latest and greatest thing going for this in the hot rod world right now.
