It looks like someone shortened the wheelbase, got out the welder a bucket o' bondo and went at it.

It's had around 14" removed. I'd be curious to see how the roof looks.

Should have made it a convertible while they were at it.

That's pretty wild. The photos provided aren't real wonderful, but you can see where stuff was patched together. Scary. Any word on where it's located?

I did some Photochop work on something like that a while back, but don't know if I could bring myself to do it to a real car. It would be a lot more work to hack together the front part of a front door with the back of a back door (easy in Photoshop! :D ) but it would look a lot better than what's in that junkyard. I'm not thrilled with the longnose look, but...

Awesome.

Jody Goodwill and I have tossed around this idea for a while. It's wild to see someone actually do it!

This looks like an old Mercedes SL, it's kind of a total mindfuck. Your photochop looks way better than the pile of Bondo in the yard.

Yeah, but making it happen in Photoshop is lightyears away from making it happen in real life. Just imagine the fabrication that would have to happen to lengthen the distance between the front wheel and the leading edge of the doors... Even if you left that alone and 'just' cut 15" or so out of the middle to make a two-door shorty, melding the front & rear doors would be a monumental task.

Didn't someone else have a photochop of a red e28 that had been shortened & couped? DaRedRocket maybe?

you not only have to cut the car, but do something about....driveshaft, hardlines underneath the car, interior bits like carpet, glass, roof stuff, etc...the idea is just retarded unless you have way too much free time on your hands.

There's a guy in the UK attempting to build an E30 M3 touring two door..

I like the photoshop one - it does look like a merc sl in profile. The 'real' one's a bit nasty though.

The guy that posted those pics is on bimmerforums. I can not remember his name thou. He was looking at a junk yard when he ran across it. He talked to the owners and it was a e28 that had been shortened. He wanted to buy it and auto cross it.

Hawt? That's funny. One of the gal's at work saw it over my shoulder when I was working on it & made some smart a$$ remark about compensating...

The cool thing about the design is just think about how much room would be under the hood of that thing! I'd be able to get at that top transmission bolt no problem.

Meh, I have a lot to over compensate for. I would put in a Jaguar 4.2 with EFI . Back to reality, once you get that top bolt out ,, toss it.

That's the one I was thinking of. Looks much more doable than either one that involves shortening the cabin. But even then, like ElGuappo says, why, when there's already the e24? I might go for an e24 someday if the right opportunity comes along, but for now I'll just stick with Photoshop. ;)

He did. Image

There's also a BMW wrecking yard not far from me here in Melbourne who had/(have?) an e28 520i ute that was modified way back in the day. Not sure if it's still floating around, but it was definitely a sweet parts slave. They also had an e3 ute too..

As we all know, the E24 6 series coupe was actually built on the E12 and later the E28 5 series chassis. That being said; this looks really good.
