Good-night all.... fleet now in hibernation!

Post by RoyW »

Well, I spent the last three days putting the cars to bed for the upcoming Winter... i.e., filled-up with gas; Stabil added; washed; detailed (if needed); tire pressure way up; disconnect a lead on the battery; and covered 'em up :(

Had a nice drive in the Alpina today, and I'm keeping that one available, in case the snow, ice, & sand hold off for another few weeks :)

And, the M5 is still out for the would-be-buyer who's coming by on Monday after Thanksgiving to give me a deposit. I'll store it for him this Winter and trailer it down (NY) to him in the Spring. I'll be sad to see her go... it's been a great car!!

Looking forward to next Spring (and Summer), and seeing some of you boys at the various events that bring us all together, e.g., Vintage, 5erFest, Ted Fest, Pittsburgh Vintage, Limerock Vintage, etc.

Meanwhile, we in the North will now commence to line-up our Winter car projects... and watch a lot of TV

Hmm... I'm just taking mine out of hibernation! The beautiful, lower humidity days make motoring more enjoyable.

Roy, I do like the matching orange cover on the 2002 ;)

Great fleet shot. Any one of which is nicer than anything I've ever owned. Let alone a shop/garage to kill for. Lets see how close I come to ones under cover. Left to right, 02, E28, ???, E30 M3. But what is that third one?

If my eyes are not deceiving me, the third one is an Acura NSX.

By the way, that picture made me clean up my computer screen. And it wasn't drool.

Yes, what is that mysterious lump under the white cover? And what's the story with the M5 being shipped off? (Love the Euro plate on that one btw... :D )

Oh my God... Your collection is absolutely fantastic.

E30 M3 is my favorite car of all time, E28s are my favorite 5 series of all time, and I have always wanted a 2002.

It's sad to see them go for the winter.

It's better than seeing them sandblasted by road grit or hit by a snow plow!

Only thing missing is some velvet rope and podiums with descriptions of each automobile in there.

Absolutely beautiful!

I'm sad to hear that you are selling the M5! I was hoping you would have to hold on to it for a few more years so I could buy it! :bawl:

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Yep, the "third one" is an NSX... I love my BMWs , but it's the best car I've ever owned! Her she is without the cover.

I have an itch for one of those too.

Your garage-ma-hall deserves some high-end floor tile.

If I had the money, I'd rather do commercial/industrial grade tile like what you see in dealerships and shops than plastic squares. But I don't have the money, so my 1400sq ft workshop is polished concrete.

...again, nice setup and collection Roy.

No hibernations here, it's only disabilities that keep them off the road for any length of time.

Roy,

I always Hated all your really nice cars!!!!!!!!!

That's part of why I moved away from Mass, so I don't have to worry about that whole winter thing and putting the "Fun" cars away.

And at the other end of garage facilities, there is my little 22x13 foot garage with its 9'-8" ceiling, well insulated, heated and which I recently added some overhead lights on a stick composed of $6.87 aluminum clamp on lamp shades, $2 surface mount light sockets and 23 watt 3000k CFLs, creating quite a bit of light. Who wouldn't love to have a garage like RoyW's? I've got to work with what I've got and it's workable, but a bit cramped.

"Luck" is finding parking spaces near the door. It's the hard work that provides the comforts.
