Heater blower resistor pack orientation?

Post by klugtrane »

Fan and resistor pack died during the fall, and I put the car up on stands to address a few issues. I pulled the blower and resistor pack to test (dead, of course), bought a new one of each and put them in a box.

Now that I'm trying to finish the repair a few months later, I can't remember/feel where the spade on the resistor pack plugs into (leads are on though). Any help? I know it clips in somewhere...

Thanks!

Hi, this is an old post but I was wondering where is the resister pack? Is it next to the fan?

It's behind the fan, once you remove it you can see the resistor pack up inside the ductwork. They put it there so the fan blowing on it keeps it cool.

Thanks Andy that saved me a post!
Can the resistor network be repaired (when I get to it?) ie find a resistor of the correct ohms and solder it in?
I thought I read in Bentley that its inside the A/C fan assembly and the center console A/C etc has to be disassembled to replace it?

My problem is - blower is on full power on position 1 -all other speeds are OK - 0/2/3
Im assuming that this is because speed 1 resistor failed and its defaulted to a no resistor circuit ie full speed fan?
