Looking For 1986 BMW 528e owned by my family

Post by Shortiecar »

Hello all, I am a 16-year-old looking for a car originally owned by my family. My father passed away last year and I've been on the hunt for multiple cars owned by him and other family members ever since.
Recently I've been coaxed by my friends with BMWs who have been wanting me to get one. I have a Mini Cooper as a daily driver but that's not BMW enough for me. In looking through a list of all the cars my family owned, my grandfather bought a 1986 528e brand new from Century BMW in Greenville SC, in 1986. It was a Dolphin Grey over Pearl Beige Cloth Automatic. Its only options included power front seats and a 25% LSD. Apparently, it was a very reliable and good-looking car my grandfather bought for my grandmother when my Dad and Uncle were in high school.
For this reason it's not particularly special to me, but I do think the E28s are my favorite BMWs regardless, and were before finding out about this particular car. Furthermore, my mom had an E34 but in 2015 or so it was squished for some unknown reason leaving this as the only survivor. After having someone run me a carfax and according to the tax records, the people we sold the car to, or the person after them in about the 2000s had a small accident (clean title), and there no records after that. We sold the car to a Jose Perez here in Greenville, and I cant find anything else about the car other than according to Carfax its still here.
I don't exactly know if the "wanted" part of this section is for this, but im wanting to learn about these cars and i'm stumped on how to continue looking for this car. If I find it I intend on possibly buying it, thats why I put it here.
The VIN is WBADK8308G9659419. Thank you in advance.

Thanks guys! Does anyone know how I might be able to go about finding the car with the VIN? The Carfax ends in my city in 2002. Asked my local dealer (who sold the car to us in 1986) and there were no records but the BMW system has all of its specs listed. Local tax record search shows who we sold it to, and the person after but there is a dead end as I cannot find anything on the person and everything that comes up isn't definitive.

This isn't a bump, but I emailed the last known person to appear on the Carfax around the time of the last record all the way back in 2004 and got a reply from a son. The only thing he knows is this as follows: "That is my father, and I don't know anything about that BMW. He sold the car to another person that I do not know."

Aw shux. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. I made a VINWIKI search but that's all I would know how to do. Any suggestions?
