I’ve decided to part ways with my e28, with certainty that I’ll regret selling, and I’d like to offer it here before I approach BaT with a listing request.

It’s a 1984 528e, with exactly 57,017 documented miles as of this post.

It’s had a quality respray in the 90s with glass out and seals replaced.

Three summers ago I was hit on the passenger side, with the rear door taking the bulk of the damage. The door was replaced and the quarter panel was straightened by hammer and dolly. Photographs of the damage and repairs are available. Carfax report notes minor damage.

I’ve owned the car for 6 years, and have enjoyed 11k miles of summertime commutes, road trips, cars and coffee events, and weekend blasts through the Columbia Gorge. It’s the most reliable car I’ve ever owned, having only stranded me when my ADHD didn’t register the reserve fuel light 2 or 3 times.

It’s been converted from automatic to manual, (G260) which makes driving a lot more fun and engaging, and she currently wears a 2.93LSD in the back end.
While not the most aggressive gearing, the gas mileage is incredible.

Timing belt was replaced by the prior owner who is an e28 enthusiast

The following modifications have been made since I took ownership

Euro bumper swap (OE, not repro) with proper bodywork completed

Euro headlights, grilles, valance, fogs, turn signals, etc.

H&R sport springs Bilstein B8 shocks

BBS RZ 323/324 staggered Dinan e28 M5 spec wheels - professionally refurbished and wrapped in continental conti-sport tires with very low miles

Manual transmission conversion

AC solutions R134a conversion

“027” ecu with conforti/turner chip

1988 Super Eta dual exhaust - new old
stock rear section and muffler.

Nardi wood steering wheel

Wood shift knob

Blaupunkt Bremen SQR head unit

Premium sound system housings with infinity speakers

Gauge cluster cleaned and serviced by seattle speedometer with needles painted hi-vis orange (mileage documented)

Super ETA tach (since the chip upped the spins)

E23 armrests

The seats show very little wear and no punctures, scratches or tears. The rear
has a slight split on one of the seams at the top of the seat back. The carpet is soft and clean, and is currently protected by coco mats.

The dash wears a cover, hiding a few cracks that I didn’t want to worsen

The glass is all original and the windshield still wears the engine break-in sticker

I have an impressive collection of service records from prior owners, including one for a replacement head under warranty at 10k miles.

One of the prior owners even kept detailed notes about his gas mileage, calculating at each fill-up.

I have a to-do list I’d like to tackle before handing over the keys:

Replace idler arm
Replace front sway bar end links
Replace inner and outer tie rods
Repair small rust hole in catalytic converter
Repair a self inflicted paint chip that came by way of overzealous use of a hot pressure washer
Obtain and install spare wheel/tire (RZ469 most likely)

Testing the waters at $18,500, and kicking myself for turning down 23k when the market was still making sellers very happy. (Go ahead and laugh James)

Yes it’s high for an eta, but chances are it’s among the nicest and lowest mileage 528s anywhere.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten quite a bit of info,

Windows and sunroof are all functional

All locks work as they should

All lights function as they should

Glove compartment locks properly and does not sag

Wiper motor is a bit weak on the low setting, and likely needs fresh grease.

Heater/AC blower has a slight chirp when on low

Zero leaks

AC blows cold

In addition to extensive maintenance records, the car comes with dealer window sticker, original manuals, and 5 original keys.

Trans and diff fluids will be changed prior to sale, as well as oil change, fresh brake pads/rotors, and dry ice detailing performed
