E28 euro fog lights vs North American fog lights

Post by Dorytheblue »

I am doing a euro bumper swap soon here on my 535i, gathering all the parts I need right now. I know all the lights on the front of my e28 are different from a euro e28 but how different? How different is the euro fog lights to the us fog lights. Is the euro fog lights and us fog lights interchangeable? Or are they completely different from each other?
Thanks!

They are a completely different design and are not interchangeable.

You need E30 M3 fogs. They are the same as Euro market fogs.

For an e28- 535iS and M5 bits for proper adjustment tab position, and frame bevel ( but don't broadcast that )

Just so you know, BMW doesn't acknowledge that there was ever such a car as a 535is on the ETK, so the dealer won't be able to help if you ask for anything for an 535is. It's very weird. That's why I said E30 M3. The M5 is also the same part, but these days, I don't know what is harder to find between the two cars.

Interesting, thank you for letting me know. Funny how they don’t acknowledge it. I probably won’t go through the dealership route to keep the costs down. Try to find them used somewhere in good shape.

Good luck with that. These are now about 300 for a set complete.

you need the mounting tab on one side only the housing, wiring, cover and lens for each side. The mounting tab on the other side is not used on the € as the housing plugs into the turn signal housing.

These lamps were used on the E23/24/28/30 and maybe more. Here is on realoem page showing the parts

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... 3171375041

tabs are not numbered in this view. You can surf the part numbers get more options on realoem and find the individual part numbers. There is a diagram with the tab numbers but it is cluttered with another set of fogs but you can find it and know what you are looking for.

Should be able to cobble together a set. The height adjustment is a screw into the tab that threads into the housing too to make the movement.

I posted this here two weeks ago but everyone was busy shopping for Christmas somewhere else. Ended up selling on Facebook Marketplace for $300. Just to give you an idea how much they are going for.
