Made a few custom door handles
Painting one up now, 3D Printed with a Resin printer. Drew all the designs in Fusion 360 and Inkscape, still learning.

Very cool. Gotta wonder though how the resin parts will hold up compared to the originals. Have you mounted them up on a car yet?

Innovative!

+1
They look friggin great! But as mentioned above, hows that plastic gonna hold up!? UV and rain always take their cut. Super interested though

Re: Made a few custom door handles
Ill put up the final design, printed out and painted later.
To the questions on durability:
- I cant break then by hand, they reluctantly bend, then bend back to original shape
- They will be painted anyhow so UV shouldnt really matter but this is SLA 405nm Resin, not printer filament. Resin requires UV light to harden while FDM style printer filament is usually broken down by UV.
- Rain, again I cant say for sure but given the problem the world has with plastics lasting millenia, I'm not overly worried about that either.

Satin black with anti-shine varnish:
I've tweaked the design a little more since making them, smoother and thinner ramp up from car body and raised them slightly vertically.
Might use this opportunity to paint them the body colour too..

Doors usually.slammin_e28 wrote:I love this....now I'm trying to think of things to put on them
Since I drew all the vectors (in Fusion and Affinity Designer) I can take those designs and put them on anything else too.
Hopefully a kickstarter Laser Cutter (Beamo + rotory attachment) I backed will get delivered in the new year and I can take these designs and cut then into things too.

Just make sure the C&Bs are right and left so they face forward, into the future.slammin_e28 wrote:I love this....now I'm trying to think of things to put on them

Those handles look legit. Would you be interested in selling a set? I have the taste of a custom builder but lack the skills. Give me a shout if your interested

Re: Made a few custom door handles
For the price of resin ($50) plus shipping I can make you up a set. Consider it a beta release though, Ive made some refinements to screw points as that was the discovered weak point on my original design.Cgailbmr87 wrote:Those handles look legit.
