Refining My E28 Experience: Seeking Advice on Performance Enhancements

Post by foxy67 »

Hi E28 enthusiasts!
I'd love to tap into the wealth of knowledge within this community and gather insights on performance enhancements. Whether it's optimizing engine efficiency, suspension upgrades, or any modifications that E28 enthusiasts have found impactful, pretty much eager to get insights of it by some OG fans and owner of this vehicle. Thanks....

We're going to need to know which model, what your capabilities are, and what parts are readily available to you in Pakistan.

Most likely spam. Pakistan is a huge source for forum spam.

Short shift kit makes the shifter a bit harder to maneuver but it increases the force needed to match the heavy steering and brake force.

Using bigger tires than 16" 205-55 in front makes the steering unfun and way too heavy unless the car is an M5 or has the steering box from an M6 or M5. Don't know about the smaller engined cars for this.

The BMW exhaust is very good. Takes a lot to get any more out of the motor than the stock exhaust. Headers and such don't add a lot of power.

Poly bushing add a good dose of NVH, Noise, Vibration and Harshness. Careful selection and use of these for a road car are recommended. Some fall apart too fast and need replacing.

Working a € motor doesn't add a lot of power. The M30B34 with 218 only gains 25-30 HP with head work, larger valves, headers, cam and more. More power comes from upping the compression from 10:1 to 10.2 or more to 1

To get good tunes replace everything in the stereo system. New head unit, new speakers, add a sub, add power amps and use all new wiring.

Don't forget about boost. Leave those internals alone, add forced induction and measure gains in the triple digits.
