Motor mount orientation question
Motor mount orientation question
I have the green hexagon shaped motor mounts. How do you orient them? metal facing forward? or to the side? I'm guessing forward?

Re: Motor mount orientation question
There is a locating pin on the bottom of the motor mount. Should fit only one way. Should be painted black, too. BMW didn't supply those in green for cars back in the 80s.

Re: Motor mount orientation question
I see you rationalized the green mm with the fact that the non-original ones in your used car were green. What the hell are you building a Christmas edition E28? The originals were black, the new ones from BMW were green starting maybe this century or late 90s. I don't know of any E28s that came with green motor mounts from the factory. Not putting this post in your build thread. Right here it will fade out in a few weeks as it moves to page 2.
Could be a coating difference that just happened to be green and BMW said sure, it doesn't matter it is not seen.

I don't believe these particular mounts are OEM BMW. Same design though.
They'll be black/brown/dirty in no time up here in the Great PNW. With record tax revenues to the state, our sharp as a rock Governor saw fit to chase the illusion of net zero. No serious road upgrades or maintenance, hence the conditions of our roads, which for the most part are shit. The green will be gone.
Side note: when my wife and I drove cross country in our 2002tii to the Vintage at the Vineyards, the best roads by far are in Wyoming. 2 lane for the most part, wide, big shoulder, and smooth, no ruts or holes.

Christmas isn't much for me. But with the decorating is fine. We get a couple months of it most years.
With no traffic, a freeze-thaw state will not have the road damage that a busy road will have so less overall, annual damage.
PA used Penn State engineers for roads so they kinda suck. Turnpike has a bump every few hundred feet they can't seem to get rid of even when they repave. I guess it is to keep us awake.
