e28 m60/2 & s62 (BMW V8) engine mounts.

Post by Blackhella »

We knew lot of guys over there just love the eight bank deep growling voice so we roll back our sleeves and made the ultimate swapping mounts for the job just before the winter starts so you could plan your snowy weekends.

- Right on spot. They are positioning the engine exactly between the chassis beams. Space on the left is equal to the space on the right, which makes them suitable for LHD and RHD applications.
- Not driving you crazy. You CAN keep the steering box with those mounts, no matter if it's LHD or RHD.
- Proper angle alignment everywhere. We make sure the driveshaft would be aligned nice and clean, engine won't be tilted, gearbox stays where it supposed to be.
- Performance was kept in mind. We did the mounts so they could sit the engine as lower as possible for better weight balance.
- Lot of room. Also we drag the motor on the back side of the bay as much as it's reasonable to be done, that clear a lot of space for radiator, oil filter remote housing, air filters, remote servo and every other of the needed accessories.
- The DIY is comming. We would put an article our blog in the very near future, giving you some head ups about the v8 swap.
- Living on the other end of the globe ? Not an issue. We're shipping worldwide.
- Free stickers. Each of the e28goodies customers receives pack of free stuff with every order. Join the e28goodies community of satisfied customers. We're bringing joy worldwide.

First three pairs are comming with 15% discount.

One of my all time favorite engines, the M62TU.

Do the guides and gaskets once and enjoy reliable power and torque for 15 years or 150k miles. Now this is a hot rod swap worth doing!

Did the DIY ever get made?
The store page in e28goodies also says this:

"A set of cad drawings for the engine and six cylinder gearboxes will be available for download to help you mate the V8 with a more obtainable and compact drivetrain."

I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on this and a cheaper gearbox option is very interesting. So far cheapest is PMC full adapter kit Inc flywheel and clutch (about $700 plus shipping) and a GS6-53dz gearbox (another $800 plus shipping).

Cheaper options would be interesting.

That's a link to the very page I quoted, not a DIY or the CAD files??

You'll likely need to convert to a R&P setup. It's a major job if you're looking to swap one of these m60's in.

Would be great if E28GOODIES could come back to their own thread and update on all these questions.

I'll bump it again - I've checked the e28Goodies web site, did they ever do the DIY write up?

Or can someone point me to one for an e28 please?

Ive never seen a write up and I went with the M54 engine in the end. Used their mounts and they were fine, steering did clear on RHD car. Exhaust manifold however needed to be custom job.
