Brake Bias

Does anyone know what if any brake bias there is in the 83 528e? Is there an adjustable valve? If not, is there an easy way to implement one? We finally put new pads/rotors on the rears. We ran 8 races with pretty worn rears which actually worked pretty well. But they got to the point where something had to be done. Now, I am concerned that we're going to lock up the rears too easily. The car is so light in the back as it is.

UPDATE: I guess this would work: http://www.iemotorsport.com/bmw/E28-E24 ... valve.html

That will work, but because you don't have ABS, your brakes are divided up differently (LF + RR and RF + LR.) You can use two of them and install one in each line leading to the rear brakes.

I was thinking that might be the case. Thanks for confirming.

Technically, you could swap two brake lines at the tees to get a front circuit and a rear circuit and then just use one bias valve before the tee, but I probably wouldn't do it that way.

What about front pads with more bite, or rear pads with less?

For several races, we had rear pads that almost didn't exist (were worn down to almost nothing) and that was just about the right amount of bias! But, they finally got too thin and were threatening the caliper. Now we've got new rotors and pads front and back and I bet you we're gonna lock the rears like crazy without a lot of bias. I think two of the IE valves will do the trick. Just need to find a way to lock the setting in once we get it where we want it. Loctite?

That's the plan. Doing a track day before I go ahead with it.
