I bought an 86 535i two years ago. There is an M logo on the back and on the front grill. I knew it wasn't an M5 so I just assumed the previous owner bought the logo and stuck it on there. Now I'm reading here that there is such a thing as an M535i. How do I know if I've got one?

Thanks--I'm a newbee and not mechanically inclined, so forgive me my ignorance!

The M535i was never produced for the USA, so if its a real one, its here grey market, and should have indications of being imported, federalized, and converted to usa specfications (probably poorly)
