Now that I have the car, it's time to start updating my reading library. Any good books/manuals, etc. that anyone recommends? Chilton's? Haynes? Bentley?

Are most things generic for all e28s or are their specific items for the M5?

Better yet, are the factory blue book manuals still available anywhere?

Thanks!

There's two manuals I would consider essenstial.

The E28 Bentley which covers everything except the M5 specific items, such as the S38B35 engine, the G280 transmission and the SLS system.

For the M5 specific items your best resource is the Mobile Traditions Repair Manual CD for the E24 6 Series. This manual also includes service information for the M6. This is where you get the info for the M5 engine, trans, and SLS system.

Don't know about the BMW Blue Service Manuals. Check with the Parts Pimp.
