Does MyE28.com know everything?
It may be the marinated asparagus and London Broil done to perfection talking but I think this website could answer any query posed. This brain trust is phenomenal!
Why won't my 22re idle? I've seafoamed the tank/vacuum lines, set the timing, cleaned out the throttlebody (haven't actually removed it, but sprayed it w/carb cleaner, wiped with rag, even did a seafoam spray clean), it keeps dieing. When its cold, it idles, when I'm coasting at speed it idles, when I brake to a stop-dies.
It actually idled for two weeks (just started driving it) then all of a sudden quit the other night.
Go for it!

What I don't know I can usually find. HTH:cddallara wrote:Why won't my 22re idle? TPS?
Did you adjust the idle when warm?
Are all vac lines connected correctly and clear? (edit: Well, you seafoamed them. nm)
Sounds like a pretty common problem. See:

I get conflicting reports on the TPS. It has been replaced by aftermarket . Some people say it won't affect idle, except to make it stutter sometimes, not quit altogether. Coolant temp sensors were also mentioned.djazz wrote:What I don't know I can usually find. HTH:cddallara wrote:Why won't my 22re idle? No CEL though.
I'll read the thread and see if I can work on it tomorrow, and report beck.
Thanks!
If the TPS is set in such a way that the car doesn't know the throttle is closed, and it thinks the throttle is still open, it's going to die. I used to get this in my 535is when the AC was on. I'd come to a stop and the car would die. Turned out that the TPS was out of adjustment - I don't know how it actually happens aside from using big slots and screws, perhaps it moves over time. That said, readjusting it so it would click when the plate was actually closed fixed the issue.

Checked vacuum line routing and tried to mess with TPS even though I know I need one of those short right angled screwdrivers.
I guess the next step is pull the TB off, and clean it super good. And replace my Taiwanese TPS.
I don't know anything about that, but I do know that while "dieing" is grammatically correct, it is not the correct reference. You need to use the spelling "dying".cddallara wrote:Why won't my 22re idle? While the resources here are impressive, I'm guessing it was more the Cabernet that accompanied the asparagus and London Broil that was doing the talking.oldskool wrote:It may be the marinated asparagus and London Broil done to perfection talking but I think this website could answer any query posed. How about we just cover all the bases at once and have a sub-forum sub-forum?Nicke28 wrote:and a Volvo turbobrick sub-forum. Volvo forums tend to be boring.nik77356 wrote:I think MyE28 needs a Toyota sub-forum.
One day I plan on owning a Lotus Europa, Porsche 930 turbo and 928. I think we should consider sub forums for each of those cars too.
I'm starting to rethink this after tonight, as certain mye28 members like to spread rumors to cute waitresses that I'm gay!nik77356 wrote:How about we just cover all the bases at once and have a sub-forum sub-forum?Nicke28 wrote:and a Volvo turbobrick sub-forum.
