ok, i am very new to the M5 crowd but not new to the e28 crowd. i recently purchased an e28 m5 with 80,xxx miles on it. And from what i heard this is the time when things are gonna start going. I just replaced the driveshaft (previus owner didnt car tot ell me that it had a problem), and now i am faced with a problem with the header that has the felx pipe attached to it. i was just wondering if anyone has parts for these cars or knows where to get parts.

What i really want/need to make my car "Visually Nice" is new seats and a trunk carpet. Besides that, the interior/ exterior are mint. No dash cracks or anything. But...if anyone knows where to get seats, or has a good set or anything please let me know.

BTW my name is mike, i am 17 years old and from boca raton Florida.
And if anyone wants to pick up a clean 533i with a 535 diff, hr/Bilstein suspension , and other goodies let me know

Thanks a whole bunch

Mike

I'm gonna say that he's NOT selling a suspension, he's selling his former ride, a 533i with a 3.25LS diff, possibly a swapped set of sway bars and/or springs.

Welcome to the forum Mike! It's good to see another fellow E28 M5 in the area!

I live at the north end of the county, in Jupiter. My M5 has about 100K miles more than yours, so cosmetically it is challenged! New paint, euro bumpers, etc plus a color change for the interior are in the works. Heck, maybe an engine rebuild, too.

I just bought a 535is that needs to be brought up to snuff to use as a daily driver. Mostly suspension items but just discovered a leaking brake master cylinder and power steering hoses with the cooler weather. Always something to fix! The blue 535i in my avatar got wrecked by a drunk in June, so I have been out of driving a nice E28 for while. Had to buy something to drive daily again as the M5 is off the road for some time while doing a restoration.

You will need to come to a Florida gathering one of these days. Most of the other Florida guys live over by Tampa so that is quite a long drive for us on the other coast... but it is all in fun! Don't forget to sign up for 5erFest as well, likely the biggest E12/E28 event in the world.

Oh yeah, Steve Haygood is the guy to get parts! Excellent service and great prices. He is one of us!

hey guys, thanks for the welcoming.

Well actually the 533 i was talking about is for sale. it has H&R sorings with bilstein shocks and i cant remember, but the sway bars are aftermarket. As someone else stated, the car has the differential out of the 535. The car is a good driving car just needs a rear seal.
Ive wanted to go to 5er fest since about 3 years ago, but always too far and school and everything i nterfears.

OHHHHH, i know what i need!!!!! on the seats, the little plastic piece witht he m stripe on it. i need one of them , but i mean if anybody is selling a whole bunch , im sure it wont kill me to have a few extra around. Thanks alot guys, and look forward to meetingup with some of you .

BTW, am i the youngest e28 m5 owner??? that would be pretty cool

good to see another m5 in the s. fl area.

about the youngest, you could be now, I know about 2 years ago, on the west coast another 17 year old hit a pole head on at 90mph, I believe, one the guys gutted the car for spare parts. i saw pics of the car, bent the chasis over the transmission. Supposedly he was racing and lost control.

I am in miami. My car is under almost same thing as Justin. Redoing the whole interior, almost done. Then to engine rebuild when it dies on me. I have about 194k on it.

Call Brian at Chatanooga BMW.

Could be the return/assist spring part # 22 in the link http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=35&fg=05
or a bad master or clutch slave cylinder or a cracked pedal bracket assembly http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?m ... g=21&fg=05

The system is not designed to do that. You will only get heat from the footwell and defroster vents.

To add to what Mark said about the fresh air for the center vents. . .

I remember reading in my E28 owner's manual, one time, that the best way to remain attentive while driving is to have warm air blowing on your feet and cool air blowing on your face. This is BMW's explanation for that design.

Personally, I like it. What I like even more is the manually-operated fresh air vent on the older E28s instead of the electronically operated one. You can mix fresh air with AC air with the old style, and it doesn't crap out as much, either.

Im 17 ass swell, (18 in a month), though I dont OWN an e28 m5, theres one in the family which i get to drive from time to time. but i guess that doesnt count. Congrats on the M.

I know its hard to find, but if there is a smacked up M5 around, pick up the whole darn car for parts. We've been looking for one, but its rare to seean M5 in our area... let alone one smacked up.

Yup, the little ///M badge for the seat backs is still available from the dealer, and they aren't very expensive at all. I see them on eBay from time to time as well, but people pay silly money for them there because the seller says they're 'rare'.

any suggestions on an intake system for my car. Also wondering tire choices...i was told that nitto 555 were good tires for rain and dry and they last a hell of a lot longer than potenzas or p zeros.

Also, any photoshoppers??? wondering what my car would look like if i bought some knock off replicas of whats on the car and had them powdervoatred black?? just wondering, i know the car looks right as it sits but i wouldnt mind to be a little different then the crowd.

Thanks
Mike

Google for pics of the E30 M3 Cecotto edition or Sport Evo, which came with the same type of wheel (different offset) with silver lips and Nogaro silver or black centers, depending on the model. Gives you a good idea of how they look. I considered doing this, as I'm refinishing my stock M5 wheels this winter, but I decided to stick w/ factory silver.
