I barely got home last night. I need to get a new battery for my M5. Does anyone have any suggestions.

If you want a battery that fits the battery box correctly, look for a retailer that carries Douglas Batteries. Douglas Battery is the company that supplies BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes in the US.

Interstate or Gould are two other companies that might have a fitment.

Ask for an "N88 Low Profile". That's the correct battery for it. Also known as N88L

Sears has a DieHard International (GRP 49) that fits perfectly - 36 mo. full replacement warranty, 100 mo. prorated warrnaty - $109.99 plus tax here in Houston this week.

I support the recommendation for Original Equipment or Douglas Battery products.

Thanks everyone for your input. I checked the curent battery and it is a motorcraft? Who would put a Ford product into a BMW? Anyway it wasn't the battery but the alternator.

Mike,

The alternators rarely fail.. usually it's the brush pack/regulator on the back of it.

Motorcraft battery? Ahh they market them in non-ford sizes.. ditto Delcos.
