dropped my car off at a place to have it installed. I got the email back quoting me 9500$ to install and tune. Seems high to me considering I have most of the parts. The said they wiull only do it if I also install a water/air intercooler. Guess this isnt happening anytime soon. Is this crazy? I mean I expected it to cost something but not that much

$9500 ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0 ~0

What the Fu@k, what are they charging for. The Tec3 is what $3k for parts, but you already have these, right :? That means at $100/hr labor, thats 95hrs to install/tune. Your lookin at the wrong shop. Dinan would be way cheaper than that :p That makes no sense.....

tuning generally runs $100 to $125 per hour. this should take no more than say maybe 15 hours on the dyno max. with the tec3, most of it is just fine tuning. of course it must be installed and hardwired on our cars, but as for the actual tuning itself, you put a cd into the computer and plug in some specs on the motor and it autotunes everything for you. of course this tune is not perfect and thats where the dyno and street tuning comes in. but $9500 is an ungodly amount of money for a tec3 install and tune.

$9500!!! Bend over. You gonna take it hard. Get another shop! I installed my TEC3 myself and have it street drivable now without any dyno time.

Install the system yourself and use the BIN file from gol10dr1 when his is finished tuning.

$9500.............oh , now thats funny. Did they tell you that with a straight face?

To finish, it's usally my experience when a shop quotes you a shocking price for a procedure, it almost always means they don't want to do the work.

Yea ,when I saw the breakdown, I knew they did not want to do the work. Electromotive should think twice about who their reps are. This shop was the only one in Oregon on electromotive's list.
