Pistons anybody?
OK, I'm starting to do some research now, I want to rebuild my bottom end this winter, and I was considering boring 1mm over, so I'd definitely need custom pistons. Now, for a N/A or boosted car, would there be a difference in what type of piston material you would want to use? I've heard of people having good luck with hypereutectic (sp?) pistons, but, I don't know how they would do in a turbo car, because, they have a kinda low temp melting point, right? At least thast what I've heard from the LS1 guys, cause those came stock with those pistons. I'm not into making a decision now, but, I don't think Iv'e really seen this topic before, so, I thought it would make for some good discussion for awhile. Thanks everybody.
http://www.importperformanceparts.net has a set of Venolia pistons for like $100/pc. A friend of mine got them in his car reiently and thye look good.

Well, looks don't really mean anything. If I bore my block, I'm gonna need custom pistons Anyway, so.......
I was thinking about boring 1mm over, thast the only reason why I'm even starting to research pistons Anyway.

[QUOTE="Jeremy"]From looking at the JE Pistons catalog, it looks like the pistons Rich got were custom. They don't list any BMW applications in their catalog. Their prices were reasonable from what I remember.

To All,
Top End Performance can provide JE Pistons in addition to other neat stuff for BMWs.

Jeremy,
The pistons for my Euro M5 are custom JE forged pistons. However they aren't available to the general public. My pistons were machined to my engine builders specifications.
