Since I decided to take the Dinan TurboTronics box out of my system due to the complex nature of it's inner workings, I went to the FMU that I've had lying around for a while. Got it in and off we go to tune. Plus, I installed the LM-1 finnaly, so I've been comparing that with the NBO2 in the manifold.
First, as I told TCD, I initially tuned to the NBO2 as it seemed it was working OK enough !@#$ !@#$ !@#$ Oh was that a mistake. I told Todd that I got it to about 12.5:1....no.....the WBO2 was reading 9-10:1 :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ Oh my. My NBO2 is reading 1.5-2.0 AFR point lower than the WBO2.
OK, fine, start in with the WBO2, I can't get the car to any leaner than 10:1. So, I pull the FMU all the way back as far as it will go, still run 9-10:1 @ 12psi So, remove the FMU, still runs 9-10:1 How the fuck am I runing 9-10:1 with no FMU. So I start pulling back the WOT map in the ECU, 3%, nothing, 6%, still nothing I am so confused.....HELP MEEEEEEE, go to -9%, now it's 10:1, finally a change.
So, I start in with the SAFC-II. I didn't want to, as that is a fine tuning device. I pull the high throttle back 3%, oh, now were getting some where at 11:1, yea.....still, how am I runing 12psi with no FMU and WOT pulled 9% back....the only thing I can think of is 42lb inj's. I've been runing pig rich since I put them in AND not knowing the NBO2 was fooling me. So even under cruise and idle, the NBO2 was telling me stochio but I was really 13:1... hell, the DME didn't care, it saw the same voltages I did.....!@#$ !@#$ !@#$ then I got :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@
I have been throwing fuel down the drain for 2 yrs since I got the Dual Display and started using the NBO2. Theres a very serious lesson here, know what that is...
Anyway, I really need to cut back the inj size constant to cool down the top end, hell the car is runing 12psi with no FMU @ 10:1, thats serious fuel delivery. Plus the sutleties of adaptive fuel trim...so I reset the DME with power pull with each EEPROM tune. Back to it tomorrow...

Tuning revalations/issues now that I'm almost Dinan free....
I would think 42lb injectors shouldn't need much if any fuel pressure raising to run your kind of boost levels, Russ. If you do wind up using it, make sure you have the restrictor in the signal line. I couldn't get my car anywhere close to normal AFRs without it. How's your mixture at cruise?
Since you've been running rich for so long, that NB02 is probably funked beyond usefullness, but you can always tune open loop until you get a new one in there. The O2 sensor will just bring everything even closer to stoich than you can get it manually.
Congratulations on freeing yourself from Turbotronics, I think you'll find things much more manageable with your chip tuning skills and that LM1, I can't wait to hear butt dyno impressions new compared to old once you get it all squared away.

Bump for an update. I believe the issue with the O2 sensor being way off is where its placed. In the Dinan system, it's monted in the exhaust manifold. It seems that the NBO2 is off by 1.5-2.0AFR points is that it's getting to hot. From my logging, it seems that the NBO2 tracks the WB OK when the car is first started when its cold. As the system warms, still OK. Idling in the driveway, OK. As soon as you take the car out and get some real heat in the system, it's gone, it starts to track off as above. Dinan....Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Do you have the TCD downpipe on there? Just use those O2 ports instead and put a plug in the Dinan one in the manifold! What're you attaching the WBO2 sensor to?
Jeremy
Yep, thats where it is, in my custom down pipe, I didn't use the TCD downpipe, as my system is different than the that, so I has a custom pipe made with a bung and a flex joint also. Oh, thats where the WBO2 is, in the downpipe.
