TCD S2 and TEC3R tuned and DONE!!!!!
so after a whole summer of waiting, set backs and let downs, the stage 2 intercooler and tec3 is finally installed and tuned and complete. the car laid down 335 rwhp and 356 rwtq at only 5000 RPM. the dyno operator and tuner did not want to push the old motor any further since they did not want to hand the car back to me in pieces. when it reached peak hp on the dyno, the operator let off and the car was still climbing hard. the pulls were done in 3rd gear and i did some open road testing today in 3rd gear and let me tell you, that car pulls hard all the way to redline. so we are estimating about 360 rwhp and 380 rwtq at the top of the rev range. the sound of the turbo spooling and the hx diverter valve is just orgasmic. one of those new lexus' wanted a piece on the way home tonight. i didnt take him to seriously but i hit it and he was just a HID speck in the distance. and i also held my own with some gsxr 600's tonight as well. for the finale, i got home and took my dad for a ride (since he is helping me out financially and all). after i explained to him 20 times that the diverter valve did not mean anything was wrong or blowing up, he lightened up and had as big a grin on his face as mine. i had it up to about 130 mph with him in the car. have no fear though, i know htis post doesnt sound like it but i have ample respect for the power and i made sure to do all this on wide open roads and also took over an hour of driving just learning how the car functions under the new boost and management now. i have a dyno graph but i have to scan it and will hopefully have it posted later. thats all for now, hope you enjoy the write up and your thoughts are appreciated.
Will his tec3 setup matter since he is using the M30B35 engine? I'm sure your tec3 setup would need to be slightly different with the compression ratio, different head... etc...
Great news though! How much boost was that dynoed at? 15psi?
Take that stuff to the track! (and let someone at ICS drive it)

[QUOTE="TCD"]Congrats Andrew! I believe you are the HP king of the TCD cars for the moment.

o i like that! i gotta make some more money though so i can do head gasket and hold onto my crown! the dyno run was done at 13 psi and when you see this graph, you will see that it has much more hp left in it at the top of the rev range. duke......i have a burned copy of the bin file for you, but we did make some changes to the IAC after we burned the disk so i will send you those changes as well. so PM me with an address and i will get it in the mail for ya. as for tuning and driveablility. the thing is solid on and off boost. super silky smooth. the only rugh spot is when the car is decelerating it has hickups at around 2k RPM. my tuner said they could probably get this hammered out with some more tuning time but i just pop it into neutral and let it coast for now. they also might want to replace my IAC motor with a gm unit since thye know those units a lot better and can tune them easier. i'll see if i can get some videos and the dyno graph up soon. onl yproblem is i am computer illiterate so this could take some finesse!

Um, whats the reason for making the leap from 335 to 360whp...Unless your running more boost. I guess I'll ask what the torque curve looks like at 5000rpm? Is it already falling off or is it flat? What rpm did it make peak torque at? If it's falling off, I'm not sure it'll make much more power after 5400rpm w/stock cam w/o more boost. I believe its a function of the turbo size/effiencency, and I have not seen a dyno of the TCD unit above ~310whp in an M30.when it reached peak hp on the dyno, the operator let off and the car was still climbing hard. the pulls were done in 3rd gear and i did some open road testing today in 3rd gear and let me tell you, that car pulls hard all the way to redline. so we are estimating about 360 rwhp and 380 rwtq at the top of the rev range.
hx diverter valve??? Is that a blow off valve?the sound of the turbo spooling and the hx diverter valve is just orgasmic.
Sweeet, again, nice work, look forward to the dyno postone of those new lexus' wanted a piece on the way home tonight. i didnt take him to seriously but i hit it and he was just a HID speck in the distance. and i also held my own with some gsxr 600's tonight as well. for the finale, i got home and took my dad for a ride (since he is helping me out financially and all). after i explained to him 20 times that the diverter valve did not mean anything was wrong or blowing up, he lightened up and had as big a grin on his face as mine. i had it up to about 130 mph with him in the car. have no fear though, i know htis post doesnt sound like it but i have ample respect for the power and i made sure to do all this on wide open roads and also took over an hour of driving just learning how the car functions under the new boost and management now. i have a dyno graph but i have to scan it and will hopefully have it posted later. thats all for now, hope you enjoy the write up and your thoughts are appreciated.

Question what was the best number without engine management....
Did the Tcd car get something like 335...I think the 7 ...
so ya get 25 rwhp with the TecR...with the stock headgasket...or basically he has maxed out the hp with a stock motor...when he goes inside the motor and strengths a couple things he will then be able to really get the numbers jumping like crazy...
Congrats....
With power come responsibility
Have fun and enjoy....

[QUOTE="TCD"]Russ,
The b35 motor makes equivalent hp/tq so Andrew will have at least 360rwhp/.

Ya, I went back and looked at some dyno charts of N/A and FI M30b35 engines. I was just wondering if your turbo selection was out of its best efficency island. Then you get more heat and less air/flow. Thats why I was wondering what the torque curve looks like. It might be flat enough to make 380whp?
Since 360whp is ~423bhp(oh my ~0 ), thats in the ~44-45lbs/min out of the compressor. What turbo is it again? If I guessed here, thats towards the top of your turbo range?

Yup, TCDs E23 was 332whp. With that cam/head, it made more hp than torque. Actually Andrew should get more, as his displacement is 8% larger and fuel management better.
Now, with that said, the E23 would be more powerful with tuning. So it's not quite an apples to apples comparison, as I've said in the past. With some tuning time on the stock E23 ECU, it will make more power...I gurantee it. Especially with some time spent playing with the timing map. I bet the E23 could gain 15whp with proper tuning in a couple hrs on a dyno.

so my car has the 60 trim wheel in a .81 housing. also for some power adders, the afm is completely gone and in it's place is a 3 inch (?) pipe. it has the MAP conversion as part of the tec3 management. we didnt want to push this motor any more with the stock headgasket as i didnt want to take the car home in pieces. we will see what it can do with 20 psi and a mls gasket around xmas.

It seems like a poor solution to sell you hardware instead of just figuring out how to program it properly, the TEC-3r is fully capable of driving the Bosch IAC. Are you running the newest version of Wintec and the matching firmware? (Software WinTEC3 3.3.90 and Firmware WT303T3) Some of the changes specifically address idle control. Electromotive recently made multiple changes to their software, firmware, and manuals, and not all the changes were reflected in the version numbers, especially the documentation updates.

In this case it is not a sensor, not that dramatic of a price difference, and it requires no custom plumbing to add the part. Every 535 already has a functioning idle control valve(well, most of them are functioning) and it is already plumbed right in where it needs to be. They aren't finnicky until they get old. By the time you buy the GM valve and the custom block needed to add it in, and then mount it and plumb it, and calibrate it to work on a non stock application, it seems kind of silly when all the original Bosch one needs is proper programming. If i were running a 100% custom EFI system you can bet i'd use cheap, well known, easy to find GM sensors instead of paying 10x for the priviledge of finnikcy Bosch parts to come over on the boat
