Ive cut over to a new editing tool for tuning the chips. See here:

This is a tool mostly written for GM/Ford iron. But works fine for the BMW application. I've set up all the maps, works great. It has more features that I need than the Atlantis Consulting software. The biggest tool is bulk change ie change an entire map by arithmatic function. Plus it has checksum creation/update, bin stacking(I need this to), compare bins(a really great function), graphing every which way and format files for all kinds of bins.
The compare is really excellent. You can switch maps back an forth with a mouse click to compare map values. You can tell it to change values to the other bin, or use other math functions between bins.
Plus, it has emulation built in, along with an editor and chip burner(with certain hardware). Very nice, Im hooked.
On a tuning note, don't use bigger injs than you need. I have the 42lb in my car. There way to big. Ive had to go deep into the inj size constant to neck delivery down, but still run very rich under boost/high throttle. Also had a big revalation, the ECU has been runing only open loop for 2 yrs!!!! Part my bad, part Dinans. Dinan installed a break in the O2 line to the ECU so it could be tuned open loop, them put back for closed loop. Well, when I moved the TurboTronics box, I deconnected it, not knowing what it was. Oh my. Ive alway has it tuned properly, albeit really rich(see other thread). Atleast now it should be way closer to stochiometric when I'm done.

Umm, I guess Im just a technically curious person. I love this stuff. I've been an EE since '85. Shit, I open up old equipment that I replace just to see whats inside, like old VCRs, DVD players, radios, etc.
Thats how TCD got his software
And yes, I will continue to explore. If I get the help I hope to get from some of the GM guys, I may be able to do a AFM to MAF conversion with just software, no signal interpeter
