1st I can light up almost at will, 2nd will spin half the gear if I shift hard from first at the rev limiter. Third is just a quick chirp and bite.

Jeremy

EDIT: Well, if we're talking one night occurences like TJ, I once shifted hard to second getting on a long highway on ramp and couldn't understand why the revs didn't drop like usual, they stayed right around 5500rpm. I stayed on it and all of a sudden the revs jumped to the rev limiter, so I shifted hard to third. Revs stayed high again for a few seconds seconds before coming gradually down to where they should've been before climbing normally. I realized after that I had just spun almost all of second and most of third gear. Not spun hard since I was still accelerating very quickly, but enough that the revs didn't match the speed. This was on a nice cool night night (50 degrees or so) and the car still running way fat.

i've busted 2nd loose on a nice cool night at the beach - @ 4500rpms at about 45-50ish mph - it wasn't just a little, the whole backend squirrelled around and spun the tires fully until redline.

edit: just busted second gear loose again last night - this time I was going about 50mph

I've broken them loose in 3rd, around 55-60 mph. At lot depends on your tires, road conditions, camber/contact patch. Given all the variables, I can break the tires loose on my Jeep in 5th gear ;)

my tires stick .... which is a good thing, right? but smoking your tires is always fun, i'm a fan of drifting... and powerbraking, especially in an 80s volvo station wagon

I got it all out of shape in second gear last week on a nice cool morning after correcting my timing (my distributor had come loose and rotated). I had been wondering why it just didn't seem as fast for a while, then I found the loose distributor (duh).

As long as my little A-A intercooler is not heat soaked, I can break them free at will in second now  .
